Why do you hate government

QuakerOatsThis video expresses much of the frustration most of us feel regarding the massive government overreaach and intervention that is devouring us and our economy.

The federal government is easily more than double the size that it should be, and it is beginning to kill us. Either we change direction soon, or we will have problems that will become unsolvable. -
gutWe truly need a reorg of government. Too much redundancy between state, local and federal govt. There'd be a lot more money left to spread around if we could clean things up to make them more efficient. That's really the first thing we have to work on - there's tremendous hidden economic potential just in breaking down redundancies for businesses to comply with taxes and regulations. Changing a cultural mindset that has increasingly become to expect and rely on more and more entitlements is a much more daunting task. But if and when we bloodlet the first sacred cow is when the average American might finally begin to question the wisdom and necessity of social insurance.
-
believerI would agree that redundancies, inefficiencies, and waste about at all levels of government. This comes from a mindset that more is better and government has an answer for all our problems.
More and more Americans are gradually waking up to the fact theat more government isn't necessarily good government.
When people finally realize that government is a part of the problem; not the solution then we'll make in-roads into turning this great nation around. -
pmoney25We only will fix the problem if everything is on the table. No sacred cows whether its the social programs or defense.
-
Con_AlmaI don't hate government.

US life expectancy 78.2 years
UK 80.5 years

they win. -
pmoney25As long as you arent diagnosed with cancer. Im more concerned with a 30 yr old catching cancer early and surviving to be 78 .Also safe to say our dentistry skills are superior.

isadoreheart disease is the number one killer of Ameri cans

gosh if you want to know the real threats at 30
1. poisoning. 2. traffic accidents 3. suicide 4. violence 5. maternal conditions 6. endocrine disorders

pmoney25Well my real threat at 30 was bladder cancer. I didn't even go in to my appointment that day screening for cancer. Dr. Couldn't find anything so he asked me if I wanted to run a cystocopy. Took all of 1 minute to get my approval. Then tumor removed two days later and clear ever since. Low stage and grade. Two years clean. So I'm glad my Dr was able to run that extra test on the spot. If I was in England, who knows?
I'm done feeding the troll. Good night -

HitsRusI am not sure why you would be stupid enough to think life expectancy stats between people of two different genetic pools would be a definitive reason in comparing healthcare systems. ?????
-
isadoreSorry I don’t have your background in racist sources of information like you do with newsnet14. What I do know is that an examination of the data comparing life expectancies see the US often ahead in life expectancy before national health service established, then the Brits consistently ahead of us

Con_AlmaDiet and cultural habits have as much or more impact on life expectancy than they type of medical care provided or available.
To correlate lifespan solely with medicine is simply a misuse of information. -
ptown_trojans_1Hate is such a strong word.
I don't hate Government, I just think it is really, really inefficient.
But, it is the tired old Iron Triangle argument, used by James Wilson in Bureaucracy.

http://www.amazon.com/Bureaucracy-Government-Agencies-Basic-Classics/dp/0465007856
We have been trying to reform Government for what, 200 years now? We can make little changes here and there, but it is such a structure that is set, that it honestly cannot be dramatically changed or reformed. This is what Obama failed to understand in 2009, and conservatives now.
It is nearly impossible to radically change the system. It is so set, that only small changes over time can work.
Add to that so many interest groups have a say in writing laws, that it does not allow radical changes or areas to improve inefficiency.
Instead, what we get is reactionary policies, that only apply band aides and do not get to the root of a problem.
As stated many times, by both sides, Government needs to work smarter. Problem is, no one has any real idea how to make that happen. -

during the time of the national health service their life expectancy jumped ahead of ours, but of course there are always excuses for the failure of our overpriced system to match the health systems of other nations.Con_Alma;1236001 wrote:Diet and cultural habits have as much or more impact on life expectancy than they type of medical care provided or available.

Con_AlmaThere's no doubt that healthcare can improve life expectancy and does. That has nothing to do with my comment.
-
isadorethe obvious
no. 1 goal of a healthcare system is keeping people alive.
many other nations' health care systems are better at it than ours, and less expensive. -
Con_AlmaWhen discussing life expectancy it would be tainted to only consider one of the factor that determine it.
-
isadoregosh when you criticize our health system for shorter life expectancy or higher infant mortality than other industrialized nations, its conservative defenders always end up blaming the recipients. Its us Americans at fault for dying too soon, not overly expensive system that leaves millions without adequate coverage.
-
Con_Alma
Yep. I agree. That's my point.isadore;1236119 wrote:... Its us Americans at fault for dying too soon, not overly expensive system that leaves millions without adequate coverage. -
ZombaypirateI hate government because they keep favoring corporations over the real humans of the country. Time for the facists to be overthrown. DOWN WITH THE GOP!!!!

gosh a ruddies if only we had a single payer government run system, spend less money on healthcare more babies would live, and we would live longer. boy now that is a good deal.Con_Alma;1236225 wrote:Yep. I agree. That's my point. -

I'll pass. It's not the government that I want involved in us living longer.isadore;1236267 wrote:gosh a ruddies if only we had a single payer government run system, spend less money on healthcare more babies would live, and we would live longer. boy now that is a good deal.
The people have the ability to live longer on their own. They have not yet chose to take those steps.
No thanks on the "good deal".
