they did not work dawn to dusk, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year but the factory workers did work 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year. And most were forced to leave the farm because of overcrowding and immigrants were also stuck in the factories.

you do realize alot of the year working dawn to dusk is no where near as bad as working a 14 hour day.

I am not saying they had a good work environment, I am saying they choose it because it was better than their other work options. The immigrants found the factory work better than what they had in their native countries. The people that moved from the country choose factory work over being a farmer. Many people worked hard and obtained better jobs. Andrew Carnegie was an immigrant that moved here with very little, worked tough jobs as a youngster, and turned himself into a very successfull individual. I know that you hate stories like that because it goes against the class warfare that you belive in.

If you hate corporations so much, why do you support them? Why did you buy a computer from a corporation? Why do you buy internet service from a corporation?

There other option was starvation or for many of the immigrants death from the pogroms and other oppressions. Most moved from the country not by choice but by necessity as population increased by farm land did not as the frontier was ending. Carnegie is such a perfect example of I got mine, screw you philosophy so popular at this site. He made his fortune exploiting his workers and cutting their wages. Then the hypocrite used his fortune to rehabilitate his reputation sticking his name on libraries and such.
The question should be why not more regulation on corporations that control goods or services of significance in our society.

most had no choice but starvation.

So the corporations gave people an opportunity to live and earn a living? They sure sound evil and soulless.

    Lol

This thread is the ultimate tl;dr

the corporations exploited people with no real choice. They overworked and underpaid men, women and small children. The dangerous conditions took lives, ruined health. When they had ruined their health or injured them, they were out the door with compensation or aid. That's pretty evil.

People with no skill, money nor relatinships left the cities to create their own way without working for corporations. Everyone had choices. Some chose to work for a corporatin. They chose poorly.

millions without the skills, money and the relationships and with the diminishing frontier had no choice between starvation or working in the corporation factories.

They had a choice. Their choices did not require skills, money nor relationships. Millions chose poorly.

it required all those things, which millions lacked.
  • Con_Alma
Not true. If it was required, those that did'nt have those things wouldn't have been able to make an alternate decision which they did.

Those that didn't make said decision chose poorly.

they made a decision, the alternatives available to them work in exploitive corporate factories and mines or starve to death. they chose the first alternative.

They had other choices available than starving or working in factories. People that acted on those choices have proved as much. CHoices that didn't require money, skills or relationships.

Those that worked in the factories chose poorly.

not having money, skills or relationships ended any other alternatives for millions.

Not true. Those that didn't have those things still carried out actions that were not inclusive of working in factories or starving.

for millions the situation for them was they lacked skill to carry out alternatives, lacked money and did not have the support from others to have any choices but factory or starvation.

Even without such skills, money and relationships there were other choices. They, instead chose poorly.

there was the choice of starvation which millions chose to avoid by working in exploitive factories.

They had other options available. Other people proved that by acting on those options. They didn't have money, skills or relationships.

Those that worked in factories chose poorly.

for the millions of them had no choice, no money, no skills, no help.
  • Con_Alma
isadore;1231566 wrote:for the millions of them had no choice, no money, no skills, no help.
They didn't need money, skills or help. That was proven by the people that had no money, skills and help and yet still chose a different option other than factories or starvation.
  • isadore
one there is a definite question if those that chose something else had a complete lack of skills, no money or the necessary supporting relationships. for millions the only choices available were starvation or work for exploitive corporations.

on subject corporation are artificial entities that are soulless and conscienceless.

Question if you choose. There were people that had no skills, didn't speak any English, knew no one in the US and had no money that chose an alternate path than starvation or working in a factory. Anyone could have done so. Those that didn't chose poorly.

no sir, anyone could not do it. for millions no money, no skill and no support, which can include more than not speaking english and not knowing anyone in US, eliminated all possibilities but starvation or factory work.

corporations only exist because of government.
