I thought this was going to be about an email forward that Belly got because I'm sure he's the type of person that loves those things and believes them (like the one with the photo of Obama holding the wrong hand over his heart, it was an obvious photoshop but who cares, it's Obama so forward away!).

What was actually posted was even worse than one of those emails.

Other than Belly's last sentence, everything else is pretty much spot on.

"The Obama campaign apparently didn't look backwards into history when selecting its new campaign slogan, "Forward" — a word with a long and rich association with European Marxism.
Many Communist and radical publications and entities throughout the 19th and 20th centuries had the name "Forward!" or its foreign cognates. Wikipedia has an entire section called "Forward (generic name of socialist publications)."
"The name Forward carries a special meaning in socialist political terminology. It has been frequently used as a name for socialist, communist and other left-wing newspapers and publications," the online encyclopedia explains."

It's really campaign slogan genius. By emphasizing "forward", it's a subliminal message NOT to look backward at his record. Forget hope & change (Obama certainly did), focus on moving "forward".

A little blast from the past:

And, curiously, while searching for the pic, I found this gem, which interesting enough sums the Obama divide and conquer campaign strategy.

Jerry, your ability to ferret out conspiracy theories never ceases to amaze me.

Forward is synonymous with progressive which equals liberal which is the same as socialist.

Hey Belly! Just wanted to say hello and interesting reading on this thread of yours.

Like MSNBC's "Lean Forward" slogan....what does that mean. How about "report the news?"

That's a little simplistic, but sure....

Yeah, it is a lame slogan though.

Simplistic? Yes because the left is constantly trying on new labels, hoping the labels stick, and doing so with the intention of hiding the fact that they are - well - liberal. If liberals are continually relabeling the fact that they are liberals, it suggests they have something to hide.

Does this also apply to groups of conservatives now calling themselves the "tea party"? Or is the whole "relabeling their name to hide something" only a left-wing thing, while when right-wingers do it, it's something more noble?

So your counter argument to the simplistic comment was essentially "I know you are, but what am I"?

    Terrific.

I actually think the concept is relatively cool. I'm just surprised that no one thought to spend 5 minutes on Wikipedia before rolling it out.

The difference between the Tea Party and the Occupy Wall Streeters, just as an example, is that the Tea Party wants the gubmint to GTFO while the OWS clowns want gubmint handout's. Nothing to hide there.
