You mean like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, all guys who have pledged $100 billion of their own money to charity?

QQ, not everyone wants to give the poor free shit. Let them spend their money how they wish.

Gosh a ruddies those guys think the best thing would be to increase the taxes on them and their ilk for the benefit of America. And they should know better than you. You just cited them as authorities.

Well they live in America. A land of opportunity. If someone wants to help the poor, they certainly can and do. If they don't want to, that is their right.

You can always move to Europe isadore. They have all the socialism you can handle over there.

All but two have the US contractually obligated to their defense. Sweden and Finland can spend less on defense because nearly all of Europe is by contract under the US defense umbrella. A good gamble for them as NATO would likely have their back anyways as any aggression on them would be be seen as a threat to NATO's dominance in Europe.
They joined NATO, put their troops under NATO command and with us held the line in Europe. Now there is no more USSR. Many of them sent their troops to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan after WE WERE ATTACKED even though the threat to them was minimal at best.

They live in America and they support raising the taxes on American rich, because they (the people you cited as an example) thing it is best for our nation to breakdown the maldistribution of wealth and increase aid to the poor by taxing the rich, themselves included. Gosh a ruddies I bet they are both even richer than you.
Oh and I am an American I want my fellow Americans have true social justice.

You're not an American. You're a poor person with a vendetta against the rich because you were too lazy to go to college, get a job, take a risk like the rest of us. You want things handed to you because you aren't good enough to be successful anywhere.

You're a modern day thief under the guise of wanting social justice. You want social justice? Write a check and stop whining.

Like I said, how does it feel to be poor? I bet that sucks.

Gosh a ruddies I am not the one who spits on American servicepeople and diminishes their contribution to our nation.
And gee whiz since I got my GED and got to be head fry man at Mickey Ds in town, things have been looking up. I might registering for community college but supporting the family comes first.
Of course it would be better to support the family and give us a real chance at social advancement if the government would support my education.
Then I could get the training for a better job, move into a better neighborhood so the kids could go to a good school and then even pay more taxes.

People can't join the military today and take advantage of the education opportunities from that why?

Anyone in the Military deserves any rewards they get. In WWII a very large portion of young men of our nation were in the military and that continued through Vietnam. Our military now is shrinking, it is being cutback. It is in the interest of our nation to offer to American young people a real chance at a post secondary academic or vocational education. Again the positive effects can be seen with the GI Bill's stimulant effect on economic growth.

So 40-70 years ago it was good to have people work in the military to have a chance at education, but today they shouldn't have to work for it? Everyone is already given a free education through 12th grade. If the extremely poor use that opportunity, they will get a free education through college. Many poor people have done this and improved their life.

You are very insulting to poor people when you say none of them can make it. Many poor people have a strong work ethic and improve their lives.

The military is being shrunk. I don’t know if that is a good idea but it is a fact. Rewarding people for their service is a good idea on its own. Providing Americans with a post secondary education is a good idea on its own for the people and for our economy. The GI Bill did both and that was great. But doing either on their own is also great for the people directly benefited and for our nation. Why don’t you quote where I said none of the poor make it. As compared to other developed nations the poor in America have less chance to rise. Some do but not enough. Some other nations do a much better job at providing for social mobility in their society. We can see a US success in that process with the GI Bill providing for post secondary education for a large portion of our nation. If that idea was extended it would even be better for our nation.

What liberals like Isadore don't understand is how an economy changes when you implement all these socialistic policies. The world won't be the same + whatever benefit you give it. Take for example, free college for everyone. There will be a trade off, either in the diminishing quality of schools or less jobs available for people after due to increased taxes, less incentive to work hard knowing you are taken care of, lower standard of living for everyone.

What a joke of a country. Like I said, move. You are an embarrassment to what this country was founded on. You should be thankful that American ingenuity formed via free market capitalism with low taxation has provided you the internet to spew your ignorant fairy tale land beliefs.

Social Justice in your definition is taking from others to support the lazy POS American. I'll pass. Like I said, if you care so much for social justice, why don't you sell all your possessions and give it all to the poor? No? Sounds like a hypocrite to me. "Oh help the poor, but take someone else's money to do it". Like I said, shut up and write a check.

I won't talk about the money I have accumulated. You'd just spend more time trying to take it away for me so that the poor can have another HDTV in their house.

Your argument about diluting education was used against the GI Bill in the post war period. College enrollments rapidly expanded. But educational institutions showed themselves able to adjust to the increased demand. America during that period was by far leading the world in providing quality post secondary education for masses of its citizens. This of course stimulated our economy.
The internet got started in America because of the the government The Advanced Research Projects Agency Network Funded by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency from the high taxes of the 1960s when the top tax bracket were paying way beyond 50%. Do you do anything but sprout clichés. There must be a market for clichés that you made your fortune from.

I think what sleeper was implying is that if you are 'less fortunate', then there is money available to help you at school if you are a good student.
I don't think the less fortunate go to college for free...as he implied. It is true that tuition varies to a wide degree based on an individual's wealth, income, or both. I also think that the poor get a huuuuge break....more than they should...after talking to some people over the years. I shelled out over 110K to date, and my daughter isn't through yet.

When I say "poor", I don't mean dirt poor either. FAFSA is definitely tilted way too far in helping with gov subsidized loans.... for those that have a net worth of 150K or less.

The amount of progressiveness on college tuition deserves a thread of its own.
