Cut the safety net. Behaviors change. People go to work to feed their kids.

That means you, isadore, will have to go to work like the rest of us. Time to grow up.

when true economic catastrophe struck in the Great Depression the states were found wanting. And so many are in situations that short term benefits will not save.

of course I can, and the fact that Bill Gates can feed his kids says nothing about the economic problems of tens of millions of Americans and more specifically of 15 million American children. There is nothing extreme about describing the goal of Republican social policy.

Sorry about their luck. This nation was built on opportunity, not living long term sucking on the government's tit.

the nation was built on many things, most positve, some negative including slave labor in all 13 colonies. From the start some were denied opportunity and that continues. In terms of social mobility, the true measurement of opportunity, we are far down the list among developed nations. The nations above us all do a better job of providing for their citizens.

Social mobility is a stupid idea/terminology. I want to raise the pot for everyone, not give free stuff to the lazy poor.

Don't get that confused with raising marijuana. The poor will do that anyway, even if you gave them more money they'd piss it away on illegal drugs.

when you act to benefit yourself at the expense of those in need, you lack a heart.

then we would able to supply everyone with that million dollars you want to give them. I think that is about your plan would cost.

So the farmer making food to sell at a price higher than what it costs him to make to feed his family lacks a heart?

Geez. Isadore, if none of us worked like you, who would pay for your socialistic paradise?

I am sorry, I was quoting from the Constitution about what we the people considered to be the duties of the government we were ordaining for our representative democracy.

And prices would adjust accordingly. Bread would cost $1000000 dollars a loaf and people would still complain that the rich aren't paying their fair share.

Kind of my feelings about the BS whining about outsorucing. That is, if you genuinely care about REAL human suffering.

since I work and many of the poor work hence the term "working poor" we all contribute as we can to providing for the general welfare of our nation.
