He should be behind bars. Of course, so should Obama and Congress.

Is her job as a 13 year old student so stressful she needs a Mexican vacation that costs the taxpayers millions -- and the money isn't even being spent in this country to help support travel and tourism here? I rather doubt it.
Got news for ya they are the first family . He was elected president . It will cost taxpayers money for there protection . So what . That is nickle and dime stuff . i wouldnt complain about a republican president or his or her family on vacation . Better watch them wall street pigs . those are our real enemies .

Its just rhetoric . I dont liken them to being Nazi's anymore than alot of conservitives liken democrats as being socialists on the verg of comunism . Listen to limbaugh talk .

Political discourse as a whole is predictable and boring. Just look at this site alone, every damn thread follows the same pattern because it's the same broken records spewing the same bullshit... the only thing that changes is the order. It's no different whether it's a message board, a bunch of drunk assholes at a bar, or TV.

All those "nickles and dimes" have added up to a record deficit. These expenses are ridiculously unnecessary. This first family has repeatedly lived a lifestyle way above and beyond what most presidents have, and certain way above what most Americans have, and yet they claim to represent those who are the "have nots". It would be hysterically funny if it weren't so pathetic.

Oh and those Wall St. pigs overwhelmingly support their fellow swine who occupies the Oval Office.

Malia being in Mexico is on a scale of 1-100 a 2. Although I wonder if she needed a beach vacation why she couldn't just go to South Beach? It doesn't seem like an "educational" trip.

The issue is why the press is possibly being forced to not report this, and websites may be removing content. This is a 90 IMO. If the administration doesn't want her whereabouts revealed for security reasons they can come out and say it, not censor the press.

Got no problem with it....and the little girl should be over in Afghanistan fighting daddy's war in 5 years too.

I don't really have issue, but just rubs me the wrong way given the state of the economy and deficit. I think in these times the POTUS & his family should take fewer and more modest vacations, and in the US. They'll have plenty of time (and money) to take more lavish junkets when he's out of office. And it is a little bit elitist - your average family, even your average upper middle class family, wouldn't typically send their 13-yr old daughter off to Mexico.

I'm a little bit surprised he's actually running for re-election. Seems like being POTUS gets in the way of their overt desire to be celebrities. But I suppose if he's not POTUS he might not get to go on tv as much.

She thought she could get a better tan in Mexico, than in South Beach!

Talked to my Dad about this earlier - he was the Spanish Club's sponsor and organized school trips to Mexico. He said under no circumstances would anyone that young be allowed on a normal trip, average family or no. Even before Mexico turned into a drug-infused craphole tour sponsors wouldn't allow children that young. I don't think its that huge of a deal since Barry/Michelle have proven themselves to be likened to a trailer park couple just winning the lottery, this is just another indication of such.

Wow, this thread is lame. No matter where Obama's children would go on vacation a Secret Service security team would accompany them. So I'm sorry, but your tax dollars would be spent on that regardless of if she was in Mexico or San Diego, CA.

Has people's disdain for Obama gotten to the point where they have nothing else to say about him except something about his daughter's vacation? Get over it. This is such a petty issue. We should be more concerned with his Healthcare Law going in front of the SCOTUS and hopefully getting it repealed.

At least American businesses would benefit, rather than Mexican.

I agree with your general sentiment, this administration sucks so bad, and as I alluded to earlier I called it a 2 out of 100 in case you didn't read it, this issue the least of our concerns. Yet a sucky decision is still a sucky decision. Is Obama capable of making a smart one?

I'm guessing most the places she's frequenting or staying in are owned by American corporations. I find this to be a non-issue and I want Obama out of office as much as the next guy, but I am not going to be petty enough (not saying you are MB) as some and complain about this when there is plenty of other things that he has done that warrant criticism.

When you're spending taxpayer dollars to send your daughter off to Mexico at a time of record setting national deficits, high unemployment, and when the average parent has to scratch their heads on whether or not they have the cash to send their kids on a day adventure to Cedar Point it only demonstrates that the Obama's are either so far out of touch with the American people it's downright scary OR they are arrogant enough to not give a crap.

Guess which one I think it is.

^^^This is what I was getting at. I don't have a problem with the POTUS' children going overseas. In some ways I encourage it as some sort of diplomacy program. It can be beneficial for the children and the country if we have positive youth experiences in foreign lands. I wouldn't bat any eye or even think about complaining if it was a trip to Rome, Paris, Beijing, etc. where it was educational and served a purpose. After all, we have embassies and diplomats around the world. This, however, seems to be nothing more than a beach vacation that even super wealthy Americans don't send their 13-year olds on for Spring Break. I don't think it's a huge deal, but it is indicative of this administration's hubris and being out of touch. I can certainly understand why many Americans would be upset when they have to sacrifice, fundraise, and ante up for their children's trip to Washington, D.C. or NYC.

    ^^^Exactly.

Personally I don't care where the Obama's send their kids on vacation. However, it's still worth pointing out how doing these things is at least a minor insult to the sensibilities of the American people.

You're POTUS for crying out loud. Lead by example.

Was the entire vacation funded by the American taxpayers or is it just the Secret Service detail following her that is? I really don't know. If the entire trip (hotel, food, airfare, etc.) was funded by tax dollars then I am inclined to agree that this is an abuse of power; however, if it is only the Secret Service detail that is using tax dollars, I really don't have an issue since they'd be following her anywhere she went.

Went to Mexico because I think it's the only place they haven't been to yet.

I think one of the main points is the fact that there are people who think the president is so in touch with the people and vacations like this and other that have been involved with the family have helped further the point that he isn't in touch. I wasn't a huge Bush fan after his 1st term but at least most of his time was spent in Crawford Texas. It has nothing to do with going on vacation and it's not just about people not liking Obama. I agree it's petty compared to getting rid of Obama care but it's a big deal in other ways.

I see the point you are making, however to compare Bush's vacations (he took more vacation time than any other president in history) to Obama's and Obama's family is a little unfair. When Bush was elected, his children were not living at home anymore and they were at the age where family vacations didn't occur as often. Obama's children are still young, so they go on vacation more often as a family than Bush and other presidents have in the past I'm sure.

I know that the president isn't on vacation with his daughter, but it's not a big deal that his daughter is on vacation. If he wasn't the president, I'm sure his daughter would still be on this vacation, she just wouldn't have a Secret Service detail with her because she then wouldn't be the president's daughter and not nearly a big of a target. The Obama's are well-off and I don't find this any different than any other well-off family in the US.

I understand that Obama's family would still go on family vacations but Bush and his wife could have still went on lavish vacations. I'm not an expert on the subject so maybe someone can provide the info.

Anyways the point I was making is that there are people who still think Obama is in touch with the people and that is simply not true.
