    I mean he wasn't arrested, he broke no laws and did not do anything illegal.

    There are current members of Congress who actually broke laws or were in deeper problems that stuck it out. I see no reason for him to resign.
    Hell ,wasn't a Senator involved in hookers and allowed to stay in office and also there is Charlie Rangel, who is still techncially in office.

    Apparently "overtures" to a 17 year old girl by a 46 year old married elected national representative and someone who is also delusional enough to think that women find naked pictures himself a turn-on should not be viewed as enough good reason to want the sick bastard to resign.

    Oh that's right...he didn't break any laws. No biggie.

    Ehh, it never led to anything, at least that we know of.
    I just saw where he is a taking a leave of absence, but not resigning, which is fine with me.

    I'm not defending his actions, no excuse for them, but to say he should resign while other lawmakers who have done far worse are still there makes no sense to me. Until those guys are gone, then Weiner should stay in my view. In the grand scheme of things, what he did is not even close to what others have done.

    Now, if you say get rid of all of them, then cool, I'm with you then.

    I don't think there is anyone on here suggesting those others should stay. The fact that others have gotten away with it should not set the bar lower. Hell Gerry Studds poked a 17yr old teenage page in the ass and went on for another 15yrs in the house and retired with honors. Because he got away with it without resigning or being removed from office does not lower the bar for one who be holding office and wielding power of the people. The house and Studds were wrong then. Time to clean house.

    I was glad to see the married congressman that sent the shirtless photo to some babe on the internet resign within 4hrs.

    He should stay so long as those who have done worse are still there. If you want him gone, then call for all of them to go, Rangel, Vitter included.

    ^^^ This is a terrible attitude. By your logic, nobody should ever be removed from office because there is always someone out there that has done worse. Hell, Ted Kennedy was in Congress forever and dumped a woman in the river. By your logic, nobody should have been removed from Congress for the past 50 years other than by vote.

    But when a Dem does these things it's a simply a "misunderstanding", "mistake", or "minor indiscretion" that shouldn't have any bearing on the individual's ability to perform his or her duties. Republicans, on the other hand, are grilled to perfection by the leftist media (rightfully so) and the Republican hierarchy is quick to politely ask their wayward rascals to take a hike (and rightfully so).

    I've already said that should be the case -- but just because someone else gets away with it doesn't mean you should condone it for anyone. That's about as lame a reason as I can think of. As noted, you can't get much worse than killing someone, and Kennedy ended up being called "the lion of the Senate" for all his years of service after his little escapade.

    Saying worse individuals have stayed is the lazy way out. Demand better of ALL of them. When Weiner lied and lied about what happened, he forfeited his right to "serve" the people, in my view. If you don't have enough character to tell the truth, then you sure as hell shouldn't be anywhere near public policy and funding.

    Effectively resigning. Had he not been caught foot tapping in the john he surely would have ran for re-election to another term in the Senate and would have won. The incident ended his political career. Initially he announced that hes was going to resign but later changed his mind and decided to finish the last year on his term and not seek re-election.

    I'm perfectly fine with him staying on, it will just mean his district will have an ineffective representative with no credibility. If that's what they want, so be it. However, I can see why people would expect him to resign - when the U.S. is in the shape it is in now (and it is horrible) even his non-constituents have a right to be angry that a louse and LIAR like him has a taxpayer funded job (and pension). Drain the swamp my ass - we need to bring back public stocks and shaming.

    Creepy "overtures". Nothing explicit but considering he was obsessed with sexting up young women and sending them wiener pics, you can definitely see he was laying the foundation.

    After the message was sent, Weiner stopped following the underage girl, before they reconnected a month later.

    The girl responded to a public message sent out by Weiner saying he wanted to attract more followers on Twitter, saying: 'Don’t forget me. I used to follow you.'

    He began following the girl again on May 16 and they exchanged messages on three separate occasions, according to the girl's family.

    One of the messages was in response to a link she posted to a Youtube video of him giving a speech, alongside the note: 'My true love'.

    The girl later wrote on Tumblr that Weiner had responded with a private message, likening himself to a superhero.

    He wrote: 'I came back strong. Large. Tights and cape. ...', to which the girl added: 'My favorite Congressman.'
