The War on Drugs

for most of them, money motivated them i would assume.majorspark;794040 wrote:Between 3/4's and 2/3's of state and federal inmates committed their crimes while not under the influence of drugs. What do you make of that? What motivated them? Whatever it is should it be outlawed?
Find me a person in jail because they said, "i've never wanted to hurt anyone, but one day i smoked some weed and did a line of coke i felt powerful, so i went out and killed someone". sorry, that hate etc was inside them long before they smoked their first joint or snorted their first line of coke or whatever.
Well, i did personally witness and stop someone from pulling a female out of a car at an intersection and try to steal her car because he was hallucinating on purple haze thinking people were chasing him.....but anyways....
no, they never said that. but they did say, "i need some more coke, heroine.."etc and went out and did whatever they could to get money to buy more coke, heroine etc. -

I Wear PantsI'm hoping Glory Days is referring to the LSD sometimes called purple haze and not the strain of weed. Because that's not how weed works.
Anyway, "some people do stupid things" is not a good reason to criminalize something, spend billions and billions fighting it, create an entire seedy criminal economy based on the item, and arrest millions of our citizens. It isn't. -

i wasnt sure what it was exactly. i think i remember the narcotics guys saying he was buying a pound of it and smoked some. i actually thought he was on PCP or something just from the way he was acting. -

well, you dont smoke acid so it would have been weed they are talking about. And weed does not make you hallucinate. -

haha dude was whacked out. started taking his pants off in the middle of the street as i drew my gun on him. then once i could tell he wasnt armed because he wasnt wearing pants anymore, i had to wrestle a pantsless guy to the ground in the middle of a busy street, good times!Pick6;795246 wrote:well, you dont smoke acid so it would have been weed they are talking about. Tobias FünkeAm I the only one who gets a raging hard on when he thinks about how much reinvestment into our economy we could do with $47 billion ($15B federal, $25B state, $7 marijuana tax)? We could build a high-speed rail system through Ohio ~115 times in a single year. Do you know how many jobs, and I mean sustainable jobs that create an economy that doesn't revolve around strip-mall shit holes and eventual decay.
Imagine the tax breaks you could give to a manufacturer or an entrepreneur, whose operation will increase the local tax base for the schools and improve them in the process. Imagine the research grants you could give a university and create medical breakthroughs. It just keeps going, it could have a snowball effect on reviving the "rustbelt" if it were done correctly.
But wait, some lousy parents can't stop their kid from sniffing glue and believe marijuana turns people into the devil. Give me a fucking break.
End this god damn War on Drugs. Then pull the troops out of Afghanistan (but continue drones) and end that war. Fix our problems here, they are too great to continue like we have and the wasteful billions being spent on drugs is certainly a part of the problem. -
I Wear PantsAgreed.

agreed Except let's save the drones. We can send them into Mexico and Columbia and hit drug cartel headquarters with them.Tobias Fünke;807186 wrote:End this god damn War on Drugs. I Wear PantsI think the cartel headquarters would be hit harder by legitimate business people being able to enter the market than drones tbh.

+1
Plus you'd be surprised what would happen. I'd bet anything you'd see some not-so-subtle intimidation from them; e.g. kidnapping and/or killing some border patrols. We don't have a secure border, and we can't really make moves with our military unless that happens in my opinion.
Legalizing marijuana would be pretty crippling for them though. It's a strange scenario when even the criminals don't want the law changed. Unbelievable. -
I Wear Pants"Please don't make me have to be a legitimate business person!" - Drug cartels.
"Ok, we'll let you keep killing people and not paying taxes" - People who support the war on drugs. -
tcarrier32Scotts Miracle Grow is trying to get on the business, glad to see some major company owners talk about it in the open.
