Do unions help or hurt workers today?

  All I have to say...
  
  In my job, I oversee certain financial activities for several hundred clients, including a number of union trust funds. A small number of them are usually under some sort of federal court supervision, in which we have to advise a trustee or court officer of all funds remitted to the client.
  
  In the past three years, I have had exactly one company/corporation under such an arrangement. Fifteen percent of my union trust funds are under this sort of order at any given time.
  
  When every seventh union is stealing your money, I really can't see how it helps anyone.

  You're right about one thing: the union did get the better of me in one instance. They were successful at keeping a drunk on the job, despite the fact that she (1) did no work (2) left work without permission and then went to a bar to get drunk several times a week (3) had a foul mouth and a poor disposition. She was a great example of a public union in action -- and one all the union bosses and members should be very proud of. A drunk kept her job while some other, more deserving person was unable to move up.
  
  Thankfully, I did end up taking a job (a much, much better one) away from that nonsense and didn't have to deal with it.

  
  judging from your inane response i would imagine the union got the best of you more often than not. according to you, you werent in the union. you merely dealt with them. so as far as your employment you werent governed by union rules. which i'm sure was a enjoyable experience for yourself . so that you could suck up a belly full spooge to try and climb the ladder just like any other unqualified hired stooge. so apparently you didnt even know that union rules didnt pertain to you.

  If unions are such a great thing and not just about power and money -- then let's make union membership VOLUNTARY in Ohio. Nobody has to belong, and nobody has to pay fair share.
  
  Do that, and I have no problem with unions of any kind because they truly are a voluntary organization.

  Did you skip the part where WB stated that he was a member of a union and that he dealt with union reps as a union member or is your reading comprehension as bad as your grammar?

  Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm proud that you consider me a blue collar unionist even though I was with management. The union officials I fought with on a weekly basis would be confused if they knew this.

  Having grown up in a union city, Erie Pa, and being a teacher I would say that unions hurt productivity and make it difficult to get rid of lazy employees.
