If you can't see the parallels, you are beyond help. Both the current and the former presidents were the conductors of run away trains. They were/are both horrible managers and stewards of domestic policy even though they both enjoyed years of control of both the senate and the house.Writerbuckeye;802206 wrote:Good Lord what leftist babble. HitsRusYeah...I see. Clinton acted like a Republican even though he said he was a democrat...and we had prosperity. Bush acted like a democrat even though he was a republican and things turned to shit.
Seems pretty obvious to me. -
BigdoggLooks like Kasich is going to have more egg on his face regarding the casino "deal" he made!

WriterbuckeyeI guess we'll see. Looks like a good deal for Ohio to me -- and the Plain Dealer agrees.

SageKasich is a joke, a clown, and a corporate puppet. Your classic 1920's Republican.
Guns in bars? Expanding drilling in our state parks? LOL.
That sound you're hearing? 21st century educated young people leaving Ohio because there are no 21st century jobs here. -

This is awesome logic. Well done here, sir. -

So the freedom to protect yourself and a desire to help make the country energy independent makes you a "joke" and a "clown"?
As for jobs...Kasich has done more to try and keep jobs in Ohio (and get more created here) in just a few months than Strickland did in four years. But don't let the facts get in the way of your rhetoric. -

Really? What facts do you have to support this? You want to cherry pick some stats to support your claim? -

Now that's funny. -

Well, Ohio hasn't lost any big businesses under Kasich -- so he's at least ahead of Strickland in that department. Strickland couldn't come up with a package to keep NCR from bolting to Georgia.
Then you have Diebold, which had an incentive offer from at least one state to move out of Ohio...and one of Kasich's first tasks was to put together a package to keep them in Ohio.
I'd say that's enough proof right there. -
Devils AdvocateProof that Kasich needs Diebold to rig those Republican elections....
-
WriterbuckeyeHey, the GOP has to counter voter fraud by groups like ACORN somehow, right?

As someone who works in a bar... guns and alcohol together are not a good idea. -

So put up a "no guns" sign...
The law is not meant so people can bring guns to Joe Blow's Hole in the Wall, it's because places like that as well as Max & Erma's and O'Charley's have the same type of liquor license. Also, it's still illegal to drink while carrying. -
SageYES THE PROBLEM WITH OHIO HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE FACT THAT I CAN'T HAVE MY PISTOL ON ME WHILE DINING AT MAX AND ERMA'S AND O'CHARLEY'S. THANK GOD OUR VISIONARY WE CALL GOVERNOR HAS FIXED THIS PROBLEM.
WE SHALL NOW RIDE THIS BREEZE INTO THE 22ND CENTURY. -

Kasich merely signed it. It was introduced last year and stalled in committee at the end of the year. BTW, this was a Strickland era bill, as Strickland was the most gun friendly governor has had in a long time. Ohio was 1 of 12 states that did not allow carry in places that serve alcohol.
typing in all caps doesn't make you any less wrong. -
SageYES THIS WAS CLEARLY STRICKLAND'S DOING AND NOT THE OHIO GOP AND GOVENOR KASICH JUST MERELY SIGNED IT MAKING IT LAW SO HE ISN'T TO BLAME AT ALL. HOW DID I FORGE THAT EVERYTHING IS THE DEMOCRAT'S FAULT.
-
SageAND BY THE WAY THAT SOUND YOU HEAR IN THE DISTANCE IS JUST OHIO GRADUATES LEAVING THE STATE. BUT WE NEED MORE TAXES ON CASINOS AND TO EXPAND DRILLING IN OUR STATE PARKS. GOD THESE REPUBLICANS JUST HAVE IT GOING ON FOR OUR STATE

It was Strickland's bill. Taft passed a concealed carry law that was terrible and had awful problems with it. Kasich is inherently anti-gun (see 1994 AWB, , HR 2122 and HR 2703)Sage;819924 wrote:YES THIS WAS CLEARLY STRICKLAND'S DOING
Blame? Fault? How about fixed Ohio's laws such as if you had an antique stripper clip in an ammo can in your trunk, you would be charged with having an illegally loaded and concealed weapon? How about you could carry into McDonalds but not Chipotle? Bob Evans but not Mimi's? How about there are 39 states that allow carry in establishments that serve alcohol and 11 that do not? Any place can still put up a sign that says "no guns". It is still illegal to drink and posses a firearm. 38 other states already allow this, I guess there is Marshall Law and blood flowing in the streets amirite?AND NOT THE OHIO GOP AND GOVENOR KASICH JUST MERELY SIGNED IT MAKING IT LAW SO HE ISN'T TO BLAME AT ALL. SageYou make the classic mistake of assuming that because I think Kasich is a shill that somehow, Strickland must be my guy. He isn't nor was he. Don't worry, I loathe all politicians equally.
Kasich is so anti-gun he signed a bill allowing weapons to be brought into bars?
....................................................................................
I love how it's the gun laws we seem so gun-ho on fixing in this state. Yes, "stripper clips" (whatever that is) in trunks is something that needs ironed out. The fact that I can carry a weapon into McDonald's but not Chipotle needs ironed out. (Ignoring the fact, WHY IN THE FUCK WOULD I EVER NEED A GUN IN EITHER PLACE?).
"Other states do it too" isn't a defense at all. Obvii it's not anarchy, but it's just stupid that these are the things our state spends its time on.
...................................
Ohio is losing big time right now. We lost when we didn't have the vision to forsee a world in which manufacturers could manufacture in a place like Bolivia, ship their product here, and improve their profit margins. Now, we're behind the 8 ball, and there's dumb fucks in Columbus saying things like, "It's inane in this state that I can carry my glock into McDonald's but I can't carry it into Chipotle."
These are the things we're spending our time on. This is the vision of our elected officials.
And we all wonder why Ohio is where it is today. -

Pointing out that you are wrong means I am implying that you support Strickland? That's a new one.Sage;819965 wrote:You make the classic mistake of assuming that because I think Kasich is a shill that somehow, Strickland must be my guy. He isn't nor was he. It was political suicide to not sign it.Kasich is so anti-gun he signed a bill allowing weapons to be brought into bars?
Because this is something that is affecting Ohians.I love how it's the gun laws we seem so gun-ho on fixing in this state. Yes, "stripper clips" (whatever that is) in trunks is something that needs ironed out. The fact that I can carry a weapon into McDonald's but not Chipotle needs ironed out. Which is why it should have been done correctly in the first place, but the bill had to be so watered down due to Taft."Other states do it too" isn't a defense at all. Obvii it's not anarchy, but it's just stupid that these are the things our state spends its time on.
Like I said, if it had been done correctly in the first place, we wouldn't be in this spot.Ohio is losing big time right now.
They were spending their time on it due to the outpouring of opinions from their constitutes. If you think it is such a waste of time, vote your Rep out the next election. I get a strong feeling that you don't even vote in local elections to begin with. Not many people do.These are the things we're spending our time on. This is the vision of our elected officials. -
stlouiedipalmaI'm not a big fan of handguns, but it seems a little silly that if you are going to have a conceal and carry law that you have to restrict where you can carry. If you're responsible enough to get the permit you should be able to carry in a place that serves alcohol.
-
WriterbuckeyeWhy do people think a governor who is doing his job correctly can't deal effectively with multiple issues? This isn't an either/or situation, Sage. The governor can take care of issues with the concealed carry law AND close an $8 billion budget deficit AND work on any number of other issues, all at the same time.
It's not like he dropped everything to do this.
I'd say he's been working pretty hard this first six months, given all the issues he's dealt with, the legislation that has gotten passed, and a number of positive steps in the right direction on the jobs front. -
ts1227It's easier to focus on dumbass social reforms than jobs. Why work on the hard stuff when you can ram horrible social bullshit through without opposition due to having both houses? The mouth breathers will still eat it up.
