Governor Kasich

2quik4uso instead of getting to kids to become educated we should just train them to do a job and thats it?
-
Thread BomberNo, they need educated. But they probably do no need 4 years of English, 2 years of Foreign language, 4 Years of math, Art,Music, or other bullshit electives.
While these courses are fine for a Liberal Arts major in college, at some point they will need real life experience. Why give them college prep courses if they will never go to college. You give them the opportunity to pursue this,(if they desire) or train them for a job and give them skills that they can use for the rest of their life ( save the bleeding higher education post for someone that give a fuck ) I don't care if it's driving a truck, or auto body repair, we need to send these kids into life with more than a knife for a gunfight. -

BigdoggHere is how Kasich wants to save money by privatizing public schools with Teach for Americia. Step 1. Make it easy for almost anyone to be able to teach. 2. Pay these teachers a hell of a lot less for less qualifications. Take a look at HB21. teacher in Ohio
A COMPARISON OF THE TFA PROGRAM VS> OHIO’S HIGHER STANDARDS
Field Experience
Teach for America:
Corps members teach summer school students for approximately two hours each day [five weeks long], under the supervision of experienced teachers. For the first hour, most corps members work directly with four to five students to build skills in math and literacy, to gain experience in facilitating group work. For the second hour, corps members lead a full class lesson, which builds skills in delivering lessons and managing a classroom.
Current Ohio Law:
A minimum of twelve weeks of full-time student teaching [7.5-hour days] and a minimum of one-hundred clock hours of field experiences prior to student teaching.
Ohio State University Secondary Math, Science Technology program:
M.Ed. students are placed for field experiences (observation, participation, internship) in schools in fall, winter, and spring quarters for increasingly richer experiences. These placements collectively provide 700 clock hours in the schools spread over 150 days (of the typical 180-day school calendar). The placements are in public middle and high schools in Franklin County with each student experiencing urban and suburban and middle and high school classrooms. STEM M.Ed. students have program classes in fall and winter quarter in the late-afternoon and early evening in addition to being in their schools each morning. Spring quarter is a twelve-week student teaching experience with students in the schools all-day every day. During that spring students complete the action research for their Capstone Project which is then completed that second summer.
Admission

i agree....how many times do we really need 90% of what we learned in high school? i mean in my everday life outside of teaching i might have used the skills of averaging a checkbook, finding the area of a room or a yard etc...but ive never had to balance a chemical equation or solve a polynomial or those types of things. even in college most of it is memorized for the test and then flushed. but i do take my car to a mechanic and pay him a pretty penny...when i was in high school our district had its own mechanic and body shop ran by students....they would fix your car for approximately half of what it would cost you in the private sector. obviously you are getting what you pay for in that situation but i think most customers left happy.Thread Bomber;720832 wrote:No, they need educated. well i was talking about ecot and life skills...in my posts i said im in support of some charter schools...there are some outstanding ones. there are also some very deplorable ones that i cant beleive stay in business. like the one i cant remember the name that was in the sun tv warehouse several years ago off of east main. it was supposed to be some type of military/physical ed type of program...all they did was pushups and situps each day and didnt even have books. by they time they were shut down there were millions of dollars unaccounted for. some of these other for profit schools also dont want to lose any students so no matter what everyone passes. -

His is like those. It's for troubled students. Every single one of them has been kicked out of their high school. -
BigdoggGuess what King Kaicsh and his house of clowns are defending today. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, huge Medicaid cuts for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital was an “unintended consequence;” but according to their own "Jobs Blue Book" he is lying through his teeth.
But here it is right here in the his budget:"We didn’t really see that coming," [Kasich’s Director of Health Transformation Greg] Moody said. "It’s an unintended consequence. It’s not an outcome we want."
Kasich’s budget cuts specifically, and intentionally, zeros out funding for Children’s Hospitals. Nothing like getting caught in a bold face lie. You all have been fooled by this idiot.

CenterBHSFanIt's been a long day, so I may be blindly reading that wrong and please correct me if I am.
The chart says that the cuts will save $12,00 over two years/$6,000 per year?
If so, that's not really all that "huge". That is perhaps the cost of one day/night stay which can be saved by spreading the deficit of expenses around to something else. Something like buying a different brand of cheaper alcohol swab pad.
Maybe tomorrow I'll read it differently, I'm tired as hell right now though lol -

WriterbuckeyeOf course he can't. Lefties are all about using slurs as a way of demeaning their opponents publicly.

Remember that Medicaid is a Federal/State program. The state provides about 40 cents on every dollar, the Feds 60 cents. The point is Kasich knows dam well what's in the budget and got caught in a lie. If this then what else? He has no creditability. You people need to come out of your rabbit hole and question whats happening around you instead of taking stupid shots at people who are actually concerned. -
WriterbuckeyeOh please, get off your high horse.
As complicated as Medicaid budgets are, I'm surprised there aren't more mistakes made when putting them together.
Fact is, Medicaid is the single item that is causing the entire budget to increase over the next two years, and Kasich is trying to cobble together something that is do-able but doesn't create too many problems.
You want to say he lied about this? Have at it. I don't get too excited about any of the stuff until I see the FINAL budget that's been put together and presented to the governor for his signature.
One thing we do know: Kasich isn't taking the easy way out and simply looking to raise taxes or try to get more federal dollars to patch holes like his pussy predecessor did. By almost all accounts, he is putting together a very reasonable budget during one of the most difficult economic times in our state's history. -

It's in the handbook.
Even if this were true. Cannot you not see that Bigdogg's posts with regard to Gov. Kasich read exactly like yours with regard to President Obama? In your next post you refer to Gov. Strickland as a pussy. How is that different? You act like you're above slurs when it seems to be your expertise.
