Create the Republican ticket.....

Ty Webbyou think has the best chance to win in 2012
Take what you feel are the top 5 Presidental Candidates then take what you feel are the top 5 VP Candidates, then give a good and bad reason that they may and may not get
Presidental Candidates
Mitt Romney-would do very well with moderate Republicans/independents; Viewed as a hypocrite by some far right wingers for his stance on HCR
Sarah Palin-Very popular with the Tea Party;viewed very unfavorably by independents
Mike Huckabee-Very Popular with moderates and independents;very unpopular with far-right wing
Newt Gingrich-Led the Republican Revolution in 1994;left office in disgrace
Haley Barbour-Chairman of the RGA,which just had a great election cycle;not very well known nationally
VP Candidates
Bobby Jindal-Very popular Governor;not very well know nationally
David Petraeus-very popular with military and independents;never held political office
Scott Brown-Very popular Senator from perhaps most liberal state in America;somewhat unknown nationally
Jan Brewer-Popular Governor in Arizona(large Hispanic population);taken alot of flak nationally for her imigration bill
Rob Portman-Has served in the White House before;just won a Senate seat
If I was a Republican,my pick would be Barbour/Brown
The ticket I think has the best chance of winning(I don't think they will though) is Huckabee/Brown -
Belly35Ty ...who running for the Dems in 2012?

I think I might Belly...maybe you can be my running mate -
HitsRusHuckabee /Rice
-
AppleHerman Cain/Marco Rubio
-
I Wear PantsHuckabee/Petraus could be a decent ticket.
Though does Petraus have any intention of running? -
Ty WebbHe said he would not run for the number one spot...but left the door open for VP
-
gutI have a feeling Jindal is going to be a Presidential Candidate - keep in mind Obama really stormed on the scene and kind of came from out of nowhere to get the nomination. He may not be capable of getting the nomination and that may make him a good choice for VP but i don't like any of the candidates you listed. I might get behind a Romeny/Jindal ticket, but admittedly I don't care for Romney much and don't really know enough about Jindal.
Montana Gov Brian Schweitzer is a guy who has peaked my interest in the past. I had hopes he might run on a Tea Party ticket or even as a Libertarian, but obviously both are very unlikely. I feel like some of the so-called "Western Democrats" are the closest thing we have to fiscally responsible politicians, moreso than most Repubs. It may be unfortunate that he has no hopes of getting a Dem nomination - IMO it will be Obama or Hillary running for the Dems. -
believerPalin - Too caustic and unelectable. Will NOT be the Repub nominee.
Romney - Yesterday's news.
Huckabee - Not enough "sex appeal".
Gingrich - Intelligent but past his prime.
Petraeus - Respected but inexperienced politically. Too much "general" to be electable at a time when Americans are growing tired of war.
Giuliani - Hangs his hat too much on his 9/11 leadership.
Jindal - Intriguing possibility.
Jeb Bush - Bush Fatigue will not allow it to happen.
Crist - Might appeal to the independents and moderate Dems/Repubs.
Graham - Has pissed off conservatives too often but is a possibility.
Christie - A strong possibility.
Bolton - Tied too closely to "W"
Cain - The Republican anti-Obama
Thune - My kind of Republican. He won't get the nomination but if I was the one making the call.....
Daniels - Another strong possibility
My ideal ticket:
Christie Prez
Thune Veep -

The position of VP would fit you well Ty....... the low standard have been set by Joe Biden so anything would be a improvement.Ty Webb;592007 wrote:I think I might Belly...maybe you can be my running mate
Thanks for the offer but I'm not changing parties ...... -
CenterBHSFanMy ticket would be comprised of the following: Palin, Christie, Jindal or Rubio.
The others mentioned - I'm lukewarm with at best. I actually don't like any of them.
Wondering if there will ever be a democrat that comes along that will inspire me to have confidence in them again? ::: sigh ::: -

Palin for President
Beck for VP
I'm right with ya, Believer on your ticket. Maybe Rubio in lieu of Thune. The balance of your analysis is very well put. I would offer that Crist, Jeb Bush, and Graham have absolutely no prayer whatsoever of even being a Republican nominee for dog catcher. -
fish82Mitch Daniels probably deserves some mention too.

bases_loadedRUBIO
PALIN -
BigdoggNone of the above

Then could you list which republicans you would like to see? Since... well that's the point of the thread lolBigdogg;592283 wrote:None of the above -
bigdaddy2003Beck wouldn't run as a Republican if he ever ran because he isn't a Republican. Christie would be a nice choice but as of right now he claims he isn't interested.
-
CenterBHSFanI am thinking Christie wants to finish out the fights he is currently in.

It was a jab at some to get the haters frothing away....and spitting epithets. Works everytime it's tried LOL. I'm 100% for the New Jersey governor....he just needs a gentle prod me thinks. Can you imagine him debating Obama?! The words, "down goes Frazier", come to mind -
Belly35The bigger question is who will the Dems candidates for President be in 2012?
Going to run with Obama ….. ???? and who?
Will the Dems put all their eggs in the Obama basket?
I think not…… -
QuakerOatsI would be happy with any of the following:
Gingrich / Rubio
Gingrich / Christie
Gingrich / Daniels
Gingrich / Kasich
Among others -
Ty WebbIf Kasich accepts a VP nomination, and they lose(which will most likely happen),he can kiss his chances of re-election in Ohio goodbye
Belly..
President Obama is going to run for re-election,and most likely VP Biden will run with him,so will you please stop trying to act like there is going to be some kind of Democrat civil war -

You're kidding right? -
HitsRusBiden would not get the VP nod for several reasons.
-
ptown_trojans_1Right now, I'm not sure anyone has the ideas or policies that would defeat the President.
If I had to chose it would probably be Portman, Christie or Thune. All are silent on all issues except spending and taxes.
I'll add three I wish would run.
1. Lugar, but too old as Boatshoes said.
2. Chuck Hagel-foreign policy guy and gets things done. But, not in spotlight.
3. Colin Powell-But ,would never do it and has lost a of R support with his support of Obama.
