Gay Pride

Wouldn't it be nice if we could always pick and choose whatever topic people get harrassed/attacked for?

This guy in the article is (yes) getting attacke for being gay. While somewhere else a woman is getting attacked for breaking up with her b/f. Somebody else is getting attacked for gossip, someone else is getting attacked for being black, while another is getting attacked (and/or harrassed and stalked) for being a republican at a democrat rally.

This stuff happens all the time and all the people attacked are victims of somebody else for a specific reason.

Which group is more victimized? Should there be a winner/loser category?

Please don't use logic and reason in here, I'm surprised FWK hasn't came out and said "see, this is why it should be a HATE CRIME"

If the police ever get involved in this, it may well be considered a hate crime. This jerk is trying to intimidate a whole class of people, not just one individual. That's the definition of a hate crime.

NBC News had a story tonight about an 18-year-old gay college student who was harrassed on the internet to the point that he killed himself. These things happen more often than any of us care to believe. I think the final tragedy of this story is that the perpetrators will probably never be prosecuted. I hope they rot in hell for what they did to this guy.

That's the kid that jumped off a bridge after his dorm mates videotaped him having sex with another dude. Do gays float when they hit the water or do they GO DOWN?

No, he's stalking one individual, its not like he's a serial killer that is only killing gays.

Oh, and hate crimes are the most retarded thing ever concocted for our legal system.

If I stalk a white guy because I hate him, its a regular crime.

If I stalk a black guy because I hate him, its a hate crime and is subject to steeper penalties.

Isn't that kind of discriminatory towards the white guy I stalked since his freedoms weren't as valued as the black guys?

This is a valid point.

What I'm wondering is if there is a better way to deter hate crimes in the first place instead of setting up laws and punishments that can be easily abused (any crime against a minority or gay is sometimes considered a hate crime which isn't always the case).

This is the kind of bullshit we gays have to fight against. I suppose these asshole Baptists would also deny that Hitler exterminated 100,000 gays and lesbians in his concentration camps solely because they were gay. Historically these things happened, and we have to fight to see that they don't happen again.

Have a quote of the "asshole Baptist" saying that?

Now, onto the subject at hand.

I do not have in front of me the curriculum for the "anti-bullying" campaign. If the campaign is solely based on explaining why bullying in general is a horrible thing and you shouldn't do it for ANY reason, then I'm ok with it.

If it truly is a "homosexuality is a perfectly ok moral choice and you shouldn't bully people for making those types of life choices" or whatever, then I too would be against said training in a PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.

If the public school system is not allowed to teach the moral code of a religion, why should they be allowed to teach the moral code agenda of the LGBT community?

Again, if its all about "don't bully people in general, its bad", then I'm all for it.

Wait, what do you find objectable about "homosexuality is a perfectly ok moral choice and you shouldn't bully people for making those types of life choices"?

This afternoon there will be the first Gay Pride Parade in Belgrade, Serbia. The local gays have been trying to put on this parade for six years. The last time an attempt was made to hold this parade, many people ended up in the hospital. This time the police department has promised to provide 5000 officers to protect the marchers.

You usually hear about anti-gay demonstrations from Catholics or Baptists. Serbs are Orthodox Christians. This shows that bigotry runs rampant throughout Christianity. I am part Serb and I know what these people are all about. The Serbian Orthodox Church is so conservative that they make Southern Baptists look like flaming liberals.
• cbus4life
Well, looks like they had a pretty rough day in Serbia, sadly.

Read reports that Molotov cocktails and the like were thrown at marchers, and that even with 5,000 police, they were very lucky to escape major bloodshed.

Was a good excuse for the crazy Serb nationalists to go nuts, it seems like.

It's amazing to me how some of your posts appear so discriminitory. I don't know if that's your intent or not, but that's the way I read it.

That is a moral decision, according to our current laws you can not teach the morals of Christianity, the morals of Judaism, the morals of Islam in school, why should we be allowed to teach the morals according to what a certain group of the population believe?

There are no "morals" of homosexuality. We simply want to be left alone and to have the right to live our lives in peace. I am no longer a Christian. The Christian Church should not have the power to dictate to me how I can live my life.

Here is the message my Serbian friend got from his mother about the Gay Pride Parade in Serbia:

<<The good news is that the event occurred and was attended by the European Commissioner for Human Rights. The bad news is that a number of folks got hurt (primarily members of the police force). I remain optimistic long term… They can’t stop the beat!>>

We are no longer going to let the Hitlers of the world dictate to us.

The Christian church does not and has not had the "power" to decide how you are to live my life.

And yes, the homosexual agenda (most of which you spew on here) does have a moral teaching involved. One set of morals says that homosexuality is a sin, and while we shouldn't treat them as 'outcasts' or any different than anyone else, it is still wrong/sin. The other set of morals says there is absolutely nothing wrong with homosexuality, that it is no different than being a heterosexual.

Neither should be, by our current laws, taught in school.

We are not trying to teach homosexuality in schools. What we demand is to prevent bullying of gay students. Those students have the right to attend school in peace without this harrassment. They didn't chose to be gay. They simply are what they are. It's up to school administrators to protect them.

While I can empathise with the plight of the Serbian Homosexuals, I am dismayed that they are aghast that people are trying to kill them for thier orientation. People were getting "ethnically cleansed" there as few as 15 years ago. At some point the world will tolerate what many consider abhorrent sexual behavior, But I believe that it is still to early in the part of the world to advance this agenda.

As far as the "Hitlers of the world" comment, is it not yourself trying to dictate to people what they should or should not believe? The mirror shows your bad side as well as your good.

Bullying jas been around for as long as schools have been here. This does not make it bad, or good but we must aknowledge that it exists. Children always will pick on the "different" kid.
It doesn't matter to them whether they are poor, fat ,ugly,Jewish Muslem, wear glasses like to eat onions or like to watch Broadway musicals. They are perceived as "different" and are ostrasized accordingly. Unfortunately, these concepts do not stay at school and are dragged along with people for much if not all of their lives.

+1

you will never stop bullying. the problem is kids these days dont have the social skills to deal with it. they'll just hide behind facebook or something instead of confronting the problem. school yard fights used to be a like a right of passage.

What about saying "you shouldn't bully gay people because while you may disagree with their lifestyle you are not in a position to judge people and should respect even those whom you have differences with?"
