Glory Daysunfortunately the truth will lie somewhere in between.

FootwedgeSeveral; months ago on a different thread, I cited interviews with Pat's mom who stated that the murder of her son in Afghanistan was due to his political hatred towards George Bush for abandoning the mission in Afghanistan for a cursory mission in Iraq.
Major Spark and others took me to task to prove my assertions.....because they had never heard of such a thing. Wel,. in spite of posting many links, there were those that criticized me for posting "unproven nonsense".
Whereby this movie doesn't necessarily validate my position, it's still a welcome sight in that America will be able to see what really did happen to Pat.
Of course you will have the usual crowd denouncing the film as Michael Moorish and a complete fabrication, despite the fact that the trailer showed direct quotes from the Tillman family...those that knew his inner thoughts on the wars in the Middle East.
So....my opinion is that I am happy that the true story on Tillman's death will be shared. After I actually see the film, then I'll be able to comment further. -

This. do you think this movie is going to be the absolute truth of what happend to pat tillman? -
BCBulldogBecause movies are where we discover the real truth. No sensationalism to sell tickets, just the facts ma'am.
Speaking of Arizona, I have some oceanfront property for sale... -
fish82Wait.....what??? Are you trying to tell me that somewhere in Washington State, there is not a semi-hot 18 year old girl caught is a sordid love triangle between a vampire and a six-pack werewolf? WTF??????
Thanks for ruining my whole fucking summer. Bastards. -

If you want to call Mrs Tillman, Mr. Tillman, and Pat's brother liars, then more power to you champ. You haven't even seen the movie yet, but you're already jumping to conclusions. Awfully rich of you.BCBulldog;404847 wrote:Because movies are where we discover the real truth. No sensationalism to sell tickets, just the facts ma'am.

Yeah...I guess it's way out of line for a guy giving up his multi million dollar football gig in order to help his country atone for 9-11, only to see the commander in chief lie through his teeth in starting an unnecessary war. And have that football player being "rubbed" for publicly chastising the idiot in power at the White House. Yeah....sure sounds like an impossibility, right? -

You're are already concluding "the movie will be an eye opener". Is there a difference?Footwedge;405481 wrote:If you want to call Mrs Tillman, Mr. Tillman, and Pat's brother liars, then more power to you champ. Yes there is a difference. A big difference in fact. I already know about Tillman's beliefs....shared through his mother and his brother's interviews...which I listened to online years ago. You know, a lot on the right bitch about the slant of the media towards the left. When it comes to the criminal activities of the military, the military machine shuts down all of free speech and precise journalism. There's a double standard...and for those that keep up on these things regularly on line, it truly is disgusting. -

Con_AlmaAre you suggesting a soldier publicly chastised his Commander In Chief?
Why would you spit in his face like that? Why trash an American hero's name after he has died?
If he did such a thing and you were in approval of his views you surely shouldn't be bringing up his lack of loyalty to his superiors and the military code regarding the chain of command. Shame on you.
RIP Mr. Tillman. -

and yes, there is a difference, you havent seen the movie yet either. its going to make a better story to talk about how they wanted him killed for this reason or that. the sad thing is, you bit, hook, line and sinker.Footwedge;405497 wrote:Yes there is a difference. no one is calling them liars. they are only speculating on what they have heard. remember, they werent there. even his brother wasnt exactly there, even though he was on the same mission. everyone likes to add a little to the story. its human nature. -

You're damn right that I "jump to the conclusion" that a movie "based in fact" will not reveal the whole truth or anything near to it.Footwedge;405481 wrote:If you want to call Mrs Tillman, Mr. Tillman, and Pat's brother liars, then more power to you champ. And you should really be careful about calling the President of the United States and 'idiot' when you don't even have the slightest idea of the information that President Bush had to use to make decisions. Nobody, except for the fringe, disagreed with his decision at the time. And save me the Bush lied, "Loose Change", conspiracy theory bullshit.
Another thing, don't put words in my mouth. I respect the hell out of Tillman for bypassing an NFL deal to volunteer for military service during a time of war.

Well stated. Tillman deserves better than to be posthumously disparaged for the sake of the almighty movie dollar. -

Calm down, no one is calling them liars, but it wouldn't be unlikely that they only present facts that fit their story, just like the gov't only presents things to fit their story. To say that one side could be 100% correct is, well, naive -

This article provides no conclusive proof of any such thing. That was the issue the last time you brought this up. Now do I think governments are capable of such killings? You bet. And history shows this. Evan the Bible records such an act. King David had his lover's husband killed in battle because he did not want to have the matter brought to the public's attention.
I also do not doubt Tillman's beliefs about the Iraq war. It is common for members of the military have disagreements with their superiors and the war they are participating in, especially in private. Look at general McClellan during the civil war. He actually ran against Lincoln his commander in chief. He did not resign his commission until election day. So no one is doubt his beliefs or his family backing them up.
You just can't expect people to believe that Bush or Cheney or whatever neocon boogeyman had one of their own citizens killed without conclusive proof. None of this stuff would stand up in court. -

It's a sad commentary that people view what happened in Iraq with your attitude, given all of the "right to know" information available for all to see. I now exactly what Bush knew...and what he knew was that there were no WMD's in Iraq...and invaded anyway. Apparently 4200 dead US soldiers is OK with you...on a completely unnecessary war...based on 935 publicly stated lies.BCBulldog;405880 wrote:

First of all, about 1/3 of the Congress were against this invasion. The other 2/3 were lied to...to their face by the fuckin idiot and his band o neogoons in the White House.Nobody, except for the fringe, disagreed with his decision at the time. And save me the Bush lied, "Loose Change", conspiracy theory bullshit.
You need to google search the Office of Special Plans, headed by Cheney and carried forth by Douglas Feith...an operation put in place to deliberately mislead the American public on what Iraq was and what they weren't.
Calling Bush an idiot regarding Iraq is truly degrading....to all of the true mentallly challenged folks out there.
I didn't put any words in your mouth. I responded to your typical tripe that our military is incapable of committing war crimes.Another thing, don't put words in my mouth. I respect the hell out of Tillman for bypassing an NFL deal to volunteer for military service during a time of war.
And the Tillmans' collectively spit in your face for making such a ludicrous and outrageous claim. How the fuck would you like it if your son/brother was gunned down from 10 yards...and the military lied and covered this up for 4 weeks afterword? Yeah...it's all about the fucking money isn't it?Well stated. Tillman deserves better than to be posthumously disparaged for the sake of the almighty movie dollar.
