    nice rankings..
  • pizzaman
you need to correct 145.... Highlands ammos is at 140

    and you need to consider
Redman from licking valley at 215 he has beaten Rice 2 times this year and has also beat cantrill from iv
  • Dirtyscramble
    All fixed :D
  • Dad4Sports
Thanks for the time you put into this......

Comment: Last year the Buckeye Local sectional dominated this tournament (something like 28 of the 56 SQ's). By my count you have approx 55-60% of the SQ's coming from Amanda and Licking Heights. Are things that different this season as compared to last? Maybe.....Former D1 power Olentangy, Hilliard Bradley (soon to be a D1 power), and former D3 power Bishop Hartley certainly add to the Central's chances.....and you can't discount the SWCS situation (many D1 standouts moved to D2).

It will be very interesting to see if the Central sectionals have closed the gap with the East sectionals, or in the best case scenario, maybe even tipped the scales towards the Central?
  • USMCdevil05
Very interesting! I count 7 predicted qualifiers for Olentangy. That could very well win a district title.
  • Dad4Sports
I'm with you.....Olentangy is my pick for the team title. Steubenville was the surprise winner over Claymont and Beaver Local in the Buckeye Local sectional last weekend, so maybe Claymont will not be as formidable as was previously thought
  • mrblonde
Why did Foster (119) and Mercer (125) injury default in the finals? Are they okay?
  • football 62
i dont see why youre counting out big walnuts 215.......maybe people should just stop making predictions and just wait and see what happens
  • hizzmuther
Nobody is counting out anybody. He ranked the four guys who took first at their sectionals. Your kid happened to get the kid who is from what is supposed to be the toughest of the four sectionals in his possible second match. Doesn't mean he is tough, but there are two good indications of skill -- record, and winning his sectional.

Rankings are just for fun... for conversation... so people will bring up other kids and explain WHY they think their kid will get around the others. Then, if you're right, you get bragging rights. It gives us something to do with our nerves and adds to the excitement. Same reason there are rankings in any sport - some even find being left out of the rankings to be motivational.

103 Price has beaten Gutierrez 2 times in a row. Maybe a flipflop here for the time being
  • BareBear
I cannot see Bertubin winng the 112. From everything I,ve heard I think McComas and Langdon battle it out for the Championship (a rematch of the sectional title). And with the quality of wresters in this weight class you might even see a sleeper sneek in there.

You can't....Fiorucci and Price unfortunately ended on the same half of the bracket.

Maybe if that was possible for Price to wrestle in the semis lose and still be able to wrestle in the finals

Why do People get on forums, and not know how to you a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence?
  • jaba134
Well if we want to get started on grammar, you aren't leading a very good example no offense.
  • hizzmuther
I know, right. And why would he ever comment on anyone's use of capital letters!
  • Dad4Sports
Best match-up on Friday night? My vote would have to go for Ice vs. Rosch at 145. Last year the highlight of the Friday session was Rosch vs. Garbrandt. Rosch won that one in a VERY entertaining match.....can he do it again?

    Other posible Friday night beauties......

    112 - Bertubin vs Langdon
    119 - Perez vs Foster
130 - Warner vs Van Dyne
    140 - Strayer vs. Staudacher
    285 - Pressley vs Schramm
  • FXSTC12
If anyone can, Conrad can. He has the ability to just really wear his opponents down. If you have wrestled, you'll know how some opponents are just "dense" for their weightclass.....like moving a sack of rocks. From what I have heard from my son and seen, Conrad seems to have this advantage.

Good luck to Conrad in the post season, let us know how that one goes.

    Borrowed from another forum...........

    Predictions by BUCKSMAN:

    103
Gutierrez (DeSales) to the semi up top against Miller (Carrollton). Price (Licking Hts) and Fiorucci (Olentangy) the same down low. I take Fiorucci to win the weight as a whole, top semi is a tossup.

    112
McComas (Beaver Local) clears the top half of the draw. I'll take Scherer (River View) as the other top semifinalist. The third quarter is tough - but I like McHugh (Olentangy) to clear it against McGath (Ham Township), who deposits Mazik (Indian Creek) to wrestle back in the first round. Langdon (Claymont) v Bertubin (Cambridge) is a brutal quarter down low.
I like McComas, Bertubin, Langdon, and McHugh as those to qualify.

    119
Perez (London) v Foster (East Liverpool) is a very tough top quarterfinal, and I'll take either to clear to the final - knocking off Wiltshire (Buckeye Local) in the semi. Hutchins (Canal Winchester) clears the third quarter and advances to the semi against McGhee (Steubenville) or possibly Parsons (Licking Valley).
Forced to make picks: Foster v Hutchins for first with Wiltshire and Perez winning money matches.

    125
Beyond Miller (Beaver Local), there is precious little in this weight class.

    130
Warner (Claymont) v Van Duyne (Cambridge) is a quarterfinal battle of state placers, take Warner there. Take Warner over Fusco (Bishop Hartley) in the semifinal too. Not that much in the bottom half, except for Shepherd (Sparta Highland). Qualifying will be Warner, Shephard, Fusco, and Van Duyne.

    135
Berger (Cambridge) qualified for state two years ago as a frosh and has made it seemingly back from the dead as a sectional champion. I like him to hit the semifinals up top. I'll take the undefeated Hobley (Steubenville) to clear that half beating Colvin (London) in the quarter and then Berger in the semi. Wolfe (Licking Hts) v Stitzlein (West Holmes) should be a very good quarterfinal bout. Higgins (Hilliard Bradley) is my pick down in the lower half as a whole.
    Qualifiers: Higgins, Hobley, Wolfe, Stitzlein.

    140
Staudacher (Indian Creek) over Strayer (Lakewood) in the top quarter. Ammons (Sparta Highland) in the second quarter. The third quarter is rather weak. I'll take Lutes (Minerva) over Yant (Olentangy) in the bottom quarter.
    Qualifiers: Staudacher, Lutes, Strayer, Yant

    145
Ice (Beaver Local) v Rosch (Canal Winchester) is a brutal quarterfinal match, I'll take Ice there. I'll take Harble (Licking Valley) in the second quarter. Ice clears top half. Grandominico (Olentangy) dominates the bottom half.
I feel confident with Ice, Grandominco, and Rosch as qualifiers with the fourth one up in the air.

    152
Beckley (Claymont) over Worley (Big Walnut) in the top semifinal.
Hetterscheidt (Olentangy) over Boyce (Minerva) in the third quarter and the fourth quarter is wide open.
I think Beckley, Worley, and Hetterscheidt are three of the four to qualify.

    160
The Eddy (Harrison Central) v Zang (Bishop Hartley) quarterfinal winner clears the top half of the draw. Kullman (Minerva) over Silvers (London) in the third quarter with Riker (New Philadelphia) over Hosom (Lakewood) in the bottom quarter.

    171
I'll take Nentwick (Beaver Local) to hit the semifinal round up top against the Clark (Whitehall) v Harble (Licking Valley) quarterfinal winner. I like Clark to the finals through the top half. I like Johnson (Dover) over King (Lakewood) in the bottom semifinal.

    189
I'll take Burrell (DeSales) over Steinmetz (Olentangy) in the top quarter of the draw, and prognosticate him to clear to the final with a semifinal victory over Kelton (River View). Henderson (Beaver Local) over Blankenship (Jonathan Alder) in the bottom half semifinal.

    215
I would guess Jackson (Bishop Hartley) is the best of the top half. The third quarterfinal with Brown (Big Walnut) v Pyciak (Buckeye Local) intrigues, and I like Rice (River View) in quarter number four.

    285
I'll take Malone (Carrollton) over Wojciejowski (Cambridge) in the top quarter. The second quarter is tough here with a first rounder between Intorre (Beaver Local) and Settles (Hamilton Twp), with the winner there my pick to beat Maynard (Watterson) and clear to the semifinal.
Schramm (London) v Eckroth (Harrison Central) would be a terrific semifinal down low, presuming Schramm knocks off Pressley (Canal Winchester) in the quarters.

Totally agree with you. It tends to start with civilized conversation then degrades from there i.e. pointing out use of grammer while bunking it up yourself. I always say it is better to be off the radar than to have a giant bullseye on you. The nerves started yesterday and won't stop until Saturday night. If we are lucky, it will continue through next Saturday. There with out a doubt will be some very good wrestling with upsets and people asking 'where did he come from'.

Other great matches on Friday night:

    112- Scherer vs. Blacka (quarters)
    112- McHugh vs. McGath (quarters)
112- Langdon vs. Bertubin as state earlier (could be one of the best matches of the weekend)
    119- Perez vs. Foster (quarters)
    125- Seldenright vs. Caserta (quarters)
125- Mercer vs. Thompson (1st round)
130- every quarter should be a great match
135- Stiltslein vs. Skipper (1st round)
    140- Yant vs. Lutes (quarters)
145- Obviously Ice and Rosch is huge
152- Bellomy vs. Beckley (huge match in the 1st round- both ranked in the top 15 in the state)
    152- Hetterscheit vs. Boyce (quarters)
    160- Eddy vs. Zang (quarters)
    215- Pyciak vs. Brown (quarters)

I love this time of year!!!
