Division 1 Darby District Predictions

  • Dad4Sports
If Marsico weighed 119, then he forfeits the 103 weight class certification.....if he weighed in at 114 or less and bumped up to wrestle at 119, then he retains his 103 certification.

When was this dad4sports? I had no idea he even bumped up to 119

Pickerington North wrestled Thursday night at home against Newark and Groveport. Beat them both soundly. Then they wrestled Friday at Watkins duals. Went 5-0 against Licking Valley, Dublin Scioto, Groveport, Watkins and Heath. Nothing was even close.

Groveport would not even wrestle PN on Friday. They forfieted 12 out of 14 matches to PN. The team was in the hall in their uniforms but would not come out on the mat. Never seen anything like it.

    Go panthers!!!

    Bdad123,
You seem to be in the know about PN wrestling. You not doing PN any favors..

Murdock and Marsico should be the final match, after that it is a close race between a few guys....
    Herrera, McCurdy, Edwards, and Noble
It may come down to the draw but i see it being Edwards and McCurdy in the third place match.
I think Murdock wins the 1st place match and McCurdy wins 3rd.
    Marsico weighed 119 today.

Duckme. Please, for all that is sacred in this world, do NOT involve rationale into this conversation. Do not try to bring into account that in less than 18 hours, the two teams were going to wrestle twice, only to, as you mentioned, wrestle in a sectional tournament together. And if you think about it, it is possible to see each other again at the District tournament too. I suppose it would be possible again at the state tournament!!!

My guess is, the coaches both knew what was going on. What I'm curious about is why they wrestled two matches? I mean, if you are forfeiting that much, why the two matches? Could it be that Pick. North had an exchange student from Finland and in order to enhance his stay in America and his experience on the wrestling team they thought they'd let him get 5 varsity matches that day!? And one of te matches would be against one of Groveport Madison's wrestlers who, as a senior, would be wrestling her final match as a Cruiser??? A girl that had been on the team since the 7th grade and was one win away from being a National Champion on the girl's circuit!?!?! That's just CRAZY!!!!!

But again, I'm sure my stories are just that, and there is a truth out there that far exceeds my ridiculuos story.

In the mean time, I'll try my best to investigate why Groveport would forfeit that many matches. Personally, my guess is that there is a deep=seeded hatred between the two coaches and the Cruisers didn't want to expose the Panthers just yet. They'd most likely want to pull the rug out from under the Panthers feet at Westland!!! Just when the Panthers think they are going to win the sectional, the Cruisers come up and steal it away!!! All because they hate the Panthers and didn't want to give them any advantage. Again, pure speculation.

    :D

Cruiser, you seem like a standup kind of guy. I have never seen a post made by you that would come across as negitive as far as a wrestler is concerned. I personally thank you for the time and insight you lend to the sport of H/S wrestling and it's internet sights. I'm certain whatever the Groveport and PN staffs worked out between the two programs was for the better of the two programs.
I don't know who duckme is but I suspect it is a youngster who likes to stir things up. You need only to look at posts made by *uckme to understand him or her a little better. Even so everybody's entitled to their opinion.

Did she win cruiser? She is a tough girl.

Don't know...was just responding to the other poster who said he weighed 119???
  • cruiser_96
222: Duckme was actually 1/3rd on it. It was the other post from bdad that baffled me. No biggie though.

USMC...she did win. It was awesome. She's worked a inside-tie, elbow bind head inside single for about 4 years now and that was one of her takedowns. And the Cross-over??? We've been working that for about three years. It's what won her the match. She's the bomb.

Pickerington North was aware of what Groveport was doing. We had just wrestled each other the day before and understand the decision. It does not make a lot of sense to wrestle the same team twice the week before sectionals.

Pickerington North did not wrestle on Saturday. Marisco weighed in at 112 on Thursday and Friday. He did not bump up to 119 for any of the matches. He has not weighed in at 119.

I can assure that bdad123 does not represent the opinion of Pickerington North. I agree ladylion89. Post like that do not do Pickerington North any favors.

Wow, this thread has it all... Speculation, Exchange students, hatred towards "the ghey" , women wrestling, and props to Cruiser. You would think the season is almost over:)
At least I am winning the CVG poll..
  • cruiser_96
You ARE!!! winning in the CVG poll. Over Ceasar even!
  • Duckme
I was not stirring any trouble, I was simply trying to defend Groveport and Pick. North for a decision that was made, not stirring anything up, Tired of people bashing one another on this site. Especially when people bash young wrestlers who are on the mat when most of the posters on this site arent
  • USMCdevil05
Good for her cruiser. Is she going to wrestle in college? They now have womens wrestling in some colleges.
  • lowsingle174
    Ceasar!!!! Et tu brute!
  • Bitterrunner-up
Cruiser...I am I reading this right? You forfeited 12 of 14 weights in a dual against Pickerington North? And the reason was you'd be seeing the them a day later and then the next week at Sectionals?

    I don't understand.
  • cruiser_96
No. You're not reading it right. We had a dual with them on Thursday, AND THEN saw them again on Friday at Watkins. That's two dual meets in less than 18 hours with almost the exact same line-ups. Plus, we only had nine wrestlers to begin with and 2 were pretty banged up from previous matches. That leaves 7. Only 2 had not wrestled a Panther yet so we put them out there.

And, as I mentinoed earlier, it worked out for our female wrestler (USMC, heads up!) who is heading to Ohio State to take advantage of a once in a lifetime opportunity and scholarship in the medical profession and the exchange student from Finland. Both were 152.

Our 112 pounder didn't wrestle the night before so we had him wrestle Au. Marsico. (The gym still echoes with his screaming and pleading for injury time!)

Those screams were haunting. The kid screamed 3 times. The ref would not stop the action. Hats off to the Groveport coach for stopping the match.
  • cruiser_96
What is sad is that every head coach and three assistants wanted to know what all the screaming was about, two kids actually stopped wrestling, and the Heath coaches told me they stopped coaching because of it. I saw kids in the back hallway stuck their heads in to see what was wrong.

Meanwhile the match went on!!! ...because it was a legal move.

Our kid showed up saturday and is about 50/50 for sectionals. We'll see.
