cruiser,i know 171 is loaded but how does a 21-6 district qual get seeded 7th.

That's easy! I put him on the wrong line!!! You see, when you switch two wrestlers late in the game and you think you have the pattern down, you get moving too quickly. Add to that, kids in your classroom that have questions concerning the rise of Nepolean and the French Revolution, you miss a line or two.

Thanks for the look. He should be switched with Martyn.

Don't you know that my notes have it that way. Now I get to go back and check ALL the weight classes! YAY!!!!!!! :D

In all seriousness, this is one of the benefits of putting it online. I've been at this since last night. It was nice to walk to the restroom; devoid a keyboard and monitor! Thanks again.

They will have a photographer on hand who will be doing the trophy stand and live action photos. www.pictureyou.zenfolio.com

YES!!! I'd love to say they are in for a treat but I'd hate to give anything away.

Cruiser...If you don't mind me asking, what's the thinking for Schramm at #1 and Marerro at #2 at heavyweight? Both have similar records and Marerro was a District placer last season while Schramm was not.
  • cruiser_96
Nothing more than the flip of the coin. I kid.

Buzzelli (W) over Marerro via fall...Schramm over Buzzelli (W) via dec. 2-1. No?

    Any updates??

    Marerro wins!

Very nice ran tourney! If only you had numbered the matches, we may have all had a clue who was wrestling in all the other matches. We could figure out our home school, but trying to figure out which weight class on all other matches was impossible. Alot of guessing. Overall, smoothly ran just need that one improvement next year.

Thank you for the heads up wingman. That is an excelant point. Next year we will stage them, then announce wrestlers name, school, weight class and on what mat they are on.
We also will add match numbers to the brackets. Those are 2 peices that that we did not take into account. We have run many JV tournaments where that has never been the issue. we should have taken into account that there are a significant more number of TRUE wrestling fans at the Varsity level. Especilly with the variety of schools that were there that do not see eachother to often, it was definately hard to know who was who.

Thank you for the heads up, we are already numbering the brackets as we speak.

Thanks for everyone who came out today. There were some great matches, all day long. We tried to model it after a sectional tournament.

I think we got there and some. I would like to see if & how many wrestlers who didnt finish in the top 3 today, qualify for the district tournament.

Congratulations Licking Valley on a great Tournament.

Congratulations to all the Champions & Good Luck the remainder of the way.

A big Thank you to everyone who volunteered today. There were very few problems. In fact the biggest problem was that it was moving to fast, we had to hold several matches in order to assure wrestlers of their 45 minutes between matches.

I really love the format. How about an MVW next year. Plus 1 more scale for weigh-ins. This was one of my favoite tournaments this year the awards were great. I like the 1st place finals only. I think you guys did a great job. I really liked it and I know coach Cubberley and Defiance loved it. Nelsonville-York will be back. The coach's-referrees room was great. Something to be proud of guys. My two boys loved your Kwan. Wish they would like just 1 of my wrestlers. lol Thanks
  • romulus
Good job today Cruiser I coldn't stay for the finals but i still got to see some good wrestling. And the highlight of the day for me (other than watching wrestling) Brats at the concession stand Nice!!
  • jefft01
Great job with the tournament Cruiser. It would have been better with bout numbers on the bracket sheets, but it wasn't too terribly hard to figure out who was who if you followed it close enough.

I'm with tric118, I also really liked the 1st place only finals. The announcing was also good, you could tell that the wrestlers liked hearing their names announced Bruce Buffer - UFC style. Loads of great talent, great awards, and a nice crowd.

Give me a bit and I'll post results. Let me get the Youth Tournament running first.

Cruiser...A year in the making and it lived up to the hype. It will only get better as you live learn and tweek little things here and there.

I'm a firm believer that while putting together a schedule for a season, you want a least one tourney you feel confortable you can win, at least one that you're in way over your head and one that is a dog fight, deep and tough, but competitive from start to finish. That's what the Cruiser Invitational was for us. Lots of hard fought bouts. We battled tooth and nail to place the guys that we did and win the a couple of weights. Great tune up for Sectionals.

TriC118...Quit teaching that "illegal front headlock":)
