Let's do some city league rankings! I know it is early, but I would like to do 3 sets of city league rankings this year. 1 before the Holiday, 1 before the Dual city tournament, and 1 before the city championship.

Nominate your wrestler, or another team's wrestler here, or via email. I will decipher the internet and create a survey monkey for all coaches to vote on, and email it to everyone next week, then post results here. I will do that again the week of January 23rd, and then again the week before the city championship. I will start us off: (these are my nominations from my team and in my opinion who I feel are good from other teams THAT I KNOW ABOUT, Don't get offended if I don't put up your stud, it is because I don't know about them, so just nominate them yourself) Feel free to include some info with your nominations.

    West HS:
    106 Amadi Bakari - returning DQ, 7-1
126 Michael Cruz - returning city champ, 8-2
    195 Phillip Thompson - 4-2
    220 Austin Sable - returning DQ, 7-3
    285 Dawson Shaw - 6-1

    Centennial
    220 Darius Echols

    Mifflin
    106 Doug Patterson
    113 Dewon Ellison
    152 Delonte Myers

    Whetstone
    126 Justin Rodriguez
    170 Ibrahim Sesay
    182 Lawrence Dean
    195 William Gibson

    Walnut Ridge
    145 - Duane Greer
    182 - Julio Budhai

    Independence
    285 - Chad Douglas
  • It is what it is
Patterson & Myers from Mifflin are returning DQ's and I would add Namar Tucker at 160 (city champ & would-be DQ if not for concussion protocol).

Terrion Thompson from East at 145 is returning DQ.

Brefford at 138 and Goodman at 120 from MF.

Amin at 138 and Davis at 132 from South.

Chad Douglas is 5-1 for Independence at 285 and Malik Adams is 3-2 at 160.

How many teams in the city actually have wrestling this year?

That "question" was answered before it was asked. Read the thread.

Not sure why you have question in quotes, but maybe I should be more specific. Did Briggs end up actually canceling the program? I had three sisters and my mom graduate from there, if so I am sad to see that program stop. Anybody know if Eastmoor found anything? I had a friend who was interested in the position, but I don't know if he followed through.

Briggs & Eastmoor are without a program this year.

That is unfortunate! Hopefully those jobs get filled for next season!

Coaches, be on the look out for another email concerning our team dual tournament...

Let's hope we fair better at the Cardington Duals tomorrow!! :RpS_w00t:
  • It is what it is
Well.......we didn't fair better at Cardington! Lack of character by some kids rendered us short in our lineup (only took 5), so we went 0-5 in our duals.

However, the 5 that went got valuable mat time that will pay dividends at the end of the season!! : thumbup:
  • It is what it is
Congrats to Mifflin's Delonte Myers on his 2nd place at 145 at Marion Harding (16-2 on the season)!
Congrats to Mifflin's Doug Patterson on his 3rd place at 106 at Marion Harding (18-1 on the season)!

So if I'm reading this correctly, putting in the work will lead to greater possibility for positive results? #Noted

Stay strong, coach. Not that we like TSUN but they got at least one thing right - those who stay will be champions.

Thanks, man. Building a program is a slow, methodical journey for sure. It's hard when you want it more than they do, but you got to stay focused on the ones who want the message! : thumbup:

Congrats to West's Eryn Fluerval on his 2nd place at 285 at West Jefferson Invitational!
Congrats to West's Amadi Bakari on his 3rd place at 106 at West Jefferson Invitational!
Congrats to West's Michael Cruz on his 6th place at 120 at West Jefferson Invitational!

My dude! This is my first Ohiochatter visit since last week. Was a great two days. Phillip Thompson also finished 7th. Love that tournament! People at West Jeff know how to host!

The heavyweight finals match was crazy. Very physical, very emotional. Lost in sudden victory. Have to learn to keep our cool (me included!) Great match against a great opponent though.

8 DAYS TILL THE END OF THE ACADEMIC QUARTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Concerning the email I sent out last week. 8 Schools responded. 1 school abstained. 4 Schools Did Not Reply. 8-0 in favor of keeping Beechcroft in for dual championship advancement, and team scoring at the city invitational.

Baumspage only listed top 6, my bad, Thompson is tough!

Chad lost his last match in sudden victory after some questionable calls (stalling point at end of 3rd to send it to OT, 2 missed locking hands calls on Arcadia kid, no escape point right before getting bopped at end of sudden victory); very hard to accept when your kid is robbed of a hard-fought victory!!

To all the coaches who choose to not be active, C'mon MAN! (best CC voice) :RpS_lol:

Had a late reply to the poll:

10 votes for YES to Beechcroft

    1 abstain vote

2 that did not take the poll
  • It is what it is
Where is everyone this week(end)? Indy is at Centennial with East tomorrow, then gets a much needed break (especially for the coach, lol) this weekend.

We are off until next Saturday (Jonathan Alder)
