KSU55Makes no sense. Dispatch trying to show love to D2 and D3 and pays no attention to earlier results. Nice motivation for tonite. Good luck!
-
bribacker51These are done by a coaches vote the dispatch doesn't pick the team.
-
Tony MeadOne bad match at district stick a fork in him hes done LOL Not! Brooks definitely first team material, mad props to him hes tuff! Mad props to all these boys, I love them all but central Ohio is flawed on all these little things starting at the all star matches to this. not sure how everything works but stats are facts you dont need coaches votes for stats! Best of skill to everyone wrestling for placements, I know central ohio is kicking a**!
-
ksig489These are voted on by the coaches the day after the district. The dispatch demands it is done that way so that they can release the team picture during state weekend. In my opinion...they want to only run a single weekend of wrestling coverage all year so they force it to be done this way. There were only about 30 total coaches at this years meeting. Quite a few kids on the list were spoken for by other coaches who had seen them this season. I know I tried to help a few kids whose coaches weren't in attendance.
It pretty much works like this: District champs are 1st unless there are more than 1 or a head to head that overrides it. Then work your way down the district placement using the same logic. Many are no brainers, coaches vote when there is a dispute. -
KSU55Obviously the process is based off district placement and accommodates all 3 divisions. It just results in some head scratchers when you have actually considered a years worth of results. Not as bad as OCC team though!

CthelitesMaybe we should wait til after state now that we are holding our own.
possible state champ not even hm??? -
cruiser_96Dispatch wants picture day of state finals. With ZERO coverage (not results, but coverage) throughout the year, it's this or nothing.
All-Metro would be non-mentioned if done next week.
I think all involved recognize the inconsistencies. -
CthelitesState champ/finalist/placer > all metro

I don't have a problem with that. I doubt very many people do. But as coaches, we'd like to see the kids in the Dispose more than we already do(n't). If we waited until after the state tournament, we wouldn't get a pic in the Dispatch.Cthelites;1712801 wrote:State champ/finalist/placer > all metro
At the end of the day, something needs to change with the coverage in the Dispatch. Or we need to find an alternative outlet for wrestling coverage in the Central District. -

Don't worry about the Dispatch team/Pic...If Braken wins tonight, who cares. I'm sure that he will be in the central district pre-season all star meet next year...Good Luck ! -

Tony MeadMaybe we shouldnt do what the dispatch wants so they can act like they care for three days of the year. Screw the dispatch! ITC is only place that has any lick of a sense.

Again, I think the Dispatch COULD BE an excellent outlet for promoting the sport. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it chooses not to be...except for three days a year. Which truly is a shame because a) it's a great sport and b) these kids work a great deal to perfect their craft and do so for very little recognition. And I love that the kids do it anyway!!!
God bless this sport!!! -
Tony Meadtrying to figure out a way now how to avoid interviews. Brakan said dispatch told a kid near by him that just lost last night that didnt want to interview if you want on that podium you will talk to me first WTF the dispatch has no rights to our kids! Gonna teach him how to marshawn lynch em! None of this shyt phases Brakan he just dont care, he was taught from the beginning theres no glory here. But from my view as a parent, baffles me that he dosent get the respect he has earned beating all these kids only seeing them get all the glory. The final results are crystal clear! well done coaches on your stupid votes! well done dispatch on your stupid paper! back to the grind next season starts today! s

huntergreen26I'm not sure who you see on this list that is not deserving. I count 12 state placers on the first team, 8 on the 2nd team, and 7 on the 3rd team. Looks like the coaches did a pretty darn good job, especially not knowing what the state results would be the following week. I think we all know that if the state tournament were wrestled 10 times, there would be 10 different results. This can be seen with the results and how they differ from the district tournament and how matches change from one week to the next.
-
ksig489Tony - Not really the coaches faults. If your kids coach either does not show up, or does not speak up...nothing the other coaches can do. 3 district champs were put up then the kid who beat Brakan in the district. I know Brakan is a stud, but I don't know if he has beat any of those kids...I had no information from his coach to go on. The traditional way of that meeting is district champs, runner-up, and so on unless head to head over rides it. I would love to have seen Brakan up there because he is not only a great wrestler but a great kid...unfortunately, no one pushed him over the others. I honestly don't even remember if Liberty had a coach there or not.
The worst part of this meeting is how d2 and d3 schools often get shoved aside. I remember fighting for our kids when we were in a smaller division and having a district runner-up in d3 get out voted by a kid who got 4th in d1. I was basically told d1 is tougher. My kid had beat d1 kids all season long. -

point of my whole post right here, its flawed. I dont buy the paper and wouldnt even know who was on the metro team unless sombody pointed it out and said "dude your boy got hosed" As i look at most of the other weight classes they seem right on and no our coach dosent go out of his way for stuff like this he shouldn't have to. something of this caliber should not be made based on one single day, some of the semi match ups at district were insane this year as were in years pass. At 106 Chase is 0-3 this year vs Brakan not one single offensive point scored vs him. I like chase hes a competitor always has been and I take nothing away from his hard work cause I know hard work when I see it! Fogel from valley, Brakan pinned this year after being up 11-0 Brakan dosen't need a coach throwing that out there, stats are facts, the results are out there! if a coach is overlooking that, then the coach shouldnt be voting for the wrong kid. No worries the bad semi match at district became a blessing at State. I'll get over it eventually, as the boy works for a National title!ksig489;1713056 wrote:Tony - Not really the coaches faults. ksig489Had I known any of that information I would have shared...but as our 106 was young and not in the running to go to district I spent my research time elsewhere. It is a shame no one else spoke up about the wins he had, they would have meant something.
Regardless...he took care of his business and got to the final match...he will top that next year for sure. Congrats to him and you! I know you have been at this for a LONG time! -
Tony MeadThank you, was one heck of a weekend! wish we could take back going down in the third period Saturday night! Or stand the eeF up (o:

too bad you guys don't participate in the state duals either. My kids found that to be a great experience. -

Why should his coach go and argue? My son's stats and wrestling speak's for itself, he dosen't need anyone to tell all the other coaches what he has done. Most know him and have seen him beat all these kids, aside from that, all the stats are on the web THANKS TO INSIDE THE CIRCLE. maybe not that given moment in the coahces hands, like Ksig said at the time of the vote he didn't have the information listed for him. Me as a coach from 1992-2013 I recently resigned from coaching when we moved up here two years ago I wouldnt be able to look myself in the mirror If I voted for my own kid or for the one that won his district without knowing who beat who and such. Sorry coaches but I am sticking to stats are facts! The kids speak for themselves, we have bigger fish to fry and look at the bigger picture! The all star selections were wrong, but oh well we got more out of practice, the all metro team is wrong, but oh well we will take being a FINALIST. Now its onto Nationals!Cthelites;1713336 wrote:Maybe your coaches should go. I would be pissed at our coach didn't go to fight for our kids best behave.

Why should we participate in the state duals when we wrestled all those teams this year we know exactly where we stood, we knew the results from Lancaster and Marysville before they even got there? Our academics are demanding, you think when we get into college of our choice we are gonna look back all worried on weather we showed up at the state duals for one match at st johns arena. Why risk the injury of to much in one week while we already have occ duals and demanding tournaments. I'm sorry but i totally disagree with your statement here. We were Fresh we took 7 to state, we had two finalist do I need to say anymore? We are Pro Marinelli, everything else are little things, we shoot for big things! -

You answered your own question! Not all the coaches know all the stats and h2h results. And this may come as a shocker to you, but not all the coaches have the integrity to vote for the best kid if it means getting their kid in.Tony Mead;1713411[B wrote:]Why should his coach go and argue? as far as coach marinelli...no one doubts his abilities and results.
olib and cent oh are lucky to have him.
he is arguably the top coach in the district. He was always good to my son and my son really likes him.
doesnt mean that I have to agree with his stance on the state duals.
wrestling needs more exposure and that has helped get some exposure and it is a good experience. We never made to St. John and it was still memorable.
id like to see a central oh team win a match! Olib is good so I'd like ALL of cent oh best teams to participate.
it didn't seem to make st eds stale and they wrestled the most matches. They didn't seem like they thought the state dual was just a little thing. they went after it! They lost the duals final but came back and won the state tourney.
