How many state champs will central ohio have?

  • MPhillips
    They're sneaky.

East (3V & ZV) along with Southeast (LO) districts cannot hold a separate D-I district tournament on their own. Those regional districts are absorbed into the Central District.

If Kowalski (3V) wins a state title on Saturday night, I will be one of the fans cheering my head off for him. However, IMO, he is not considered - in my mind - a Central District kid. Sure, he wrestles at the Darby District, but he, along with his teammates, Zanesville, and Logan are not Central District.

    Thats my piece. ...Peace.

He is as Central District as they come tho.
he has trained at tOSU and with Jimmy the GREAT Edwards since he was a lil youth wrestler.
I will claim him as one of our own!!!

That might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard dusty_e_roads. Watch the tape and count how many shots they both took. While your at it check out the takedown and back points sparks was robbed of. Demas was the one who wasn't scoring. Unless ya count that cheap penalty point for sparks touching his head.(without a warning) this is folk style. Maybe if you follow your idol around to his Greco tournaments you can get an autograph

If you're considering Sean black for a state title I think you have to put Cody pollitt in there too since he beat black for the district title.

This is a fact! They are definitely central district. All the hours he has spent with Jimmy in Cbus! Unfortunate Tri Valley made the jump to Division 1. But with this location, the only other place they could go would be north. so with these two locations of D1 he is considered central more then north IMO.

Serious? Back Points for Sparks? You obviously never wrestled a day in your life if you thought there was back points for Sparks! Sparks wrestled a perfect match...stayed away, used the edge and had at least 10 min in blood time that slowed the match down considerably...Not knocking Sparks(like you are of Demas) because he is a great wrestler! Comments about getting his autograph is very inappropriate...see you just had your first post and also hiding with your screen name!! Let both kids be and hope they both wrestle saturday night!!

I'm guessing you were one of the whiny Marysville fans wanting 2 near fall points for a Greco Roll. Seriously dude?!?! ROFLMAO.

And Sparks wasn't pointed for "touching the head", it was for "touching" (using the term loosely) the face. And he did it repeatedly before being dinged. Maybe you were too busy whining about the phantom "headbutt" to notice.

Ok guys. Take it easy. This thread is about Central Ohio KIDS with a shot at a State Championship.

Let the boys sort it out on the mat.

Here is who I think can win it from the Central district in order of who has the best shot.

132-Bobby Smith-Lets face it Bobby is due. He has put in the time and has the experience on the highest level. I consider him a solid favorite despite what some of the rankers are saying.

145-Kowalski-By most accounts he is the favorite here. If he takes up one of the 4 spots for a Central district wrestler then he is Central district in my book regardless of geographic location.

113-Lee-Looks poised to challenge for a title here and already has a win over the Perry kid. I really like Laney to be in the top 4 hear to and would love to see an all Central District final.

220-Pfarr-I'll take even money on Pfarr right now. Moeller kid has something going on. Getting pinned once is could be a fluke but twice in a month? Pfarr is very good in all positions and I think cruises to the finals. Frueauf has to make it out of his side without getting pinned again.

138-Demas/Sparks-Demas has the talent to do it but can he avoid freshman mistakes and be consistent for 4 matches at this level? Sparks certainly more experienced and seems to wrestle his best at the end of the season. Rooney is also a guy who brings his A game at State and could be a spoiler.

126-Wimer-I think Wimer is a cut above everyone but Bavery. Would love to see him knock off Bavery but it will take a huge effort. Another guy who is definitely due.

Blaspheme I say! Pure blaspheme. Thou shalt honor thy OHSAA and never doubt! Thou shalt love his neighbor (Dresden) as thy self. What OHSAA brings together, let no one....question. Plus, if the result of the mighty OHSAA brings a central region title...I'll take it!

    Just say'n!

Amen! And for the record Licking Valley has always been considered Central Ohio and from my house I can throw a rock into the Tri-Valley School District.

He will learn when to go and when to slow. Tough place to learn that lesson. Ivy League will help that.
