I think everyone is entitled to their opinion (there are rules on forums for opinions that cross the line of decency/language/personal attacks), but just like Patrick Swayze said in Road House, "opinions vary"!! :RpS_flapper:

I get along with almost every coach in the city and believe most of them to be advocates for kids and their sport (I coach 3 sports and teach P.E.), so let's not beat a dead horse (situation was handled, whoever doesn't like it, that's their problem!).

Good luck to all the city wrestlers vying for a spot at the Schott!! : thumbup:

Anytime there is a roadhouse reference, EVERYONE wins! +1
I think most of the coaches that know each other on here, know their screen names.

On a wrestling note, it looks like we as a league got some pretty good draws. Good luck Men!!

When a man sticks a gun in your face, you got 2 choices....you can die...or you can kill the MFer! So says Wade Garrett....Classic!! LOL

I'm thinking about it, But I also have my sights set on Darby. Claymont has a pretty good set up. How many city teams Represented there? MFHS, Brookhaven, Mifflin, Indy, Briggs, Centennial, who else?

Briggs is D1 and got no kids out but you can add East, Linden, South and Eastmoor that are D2

South didn't get anyone out, but Walnut Ridge got their 138 out. West got Em out at 132. Whetstone got North, Bobo and Burrell out at 160-182.

23 city wrestlers made it to Districts....let's hope more than 2 make the Schott! : thumbup:
  • coachchuck
Hopefully we can add one to that number it depends on the DOO!! He has a good draw i think if he puts it together and continues his progression from the start of the year till now stranger things have happened.

Entered 8 kids in the sectional, 2 didn't show up in the morning and 5 missed weight! You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. We all deal with city league shenanigans, but the shenanigans on the South end are in a league of their own!

Just heard this story today. Thurs or Fri before sectionals he gave blood for the Red Cross blood drive. After he donated, went to lunch, got woozy, passed out, smacked his head, got a concussion, done.

Yes it is. They easily had two DQ at 132 and 195. 195 was a returning DQ from last year. I don't know what happened specifically, just the broad story. Their new coach is a solid guy, and does the best he can considering he does not work in the building and has to start practice late because of his job. At some point, the kids need to be held accountable. I remember last year. My 126 city runner up disappeared for two days, then shows up Wednesday of sectionals crazy overweight. Told me he didn't want to wrestle at sectionals. I said fine, but you are not earning a varsity letter (would have been his second, he was a junior) He flipped out, then had his dad call me all mad. His dad was a reasonable dude though, and once I explained to him the entire situation (his son tried to tell him it was an optional tournament) he went off on his son in the background of the phone call. Needless to say he made weight, then proceeded to go 0-2 at sectionals in his worst wrestling performance ever.

    These kids are crazy.

Yeah man, I remember when that happened to you last year. Sometimes I feel that our kids are scared to be good, and when the pressure arrives a lot of "things" happen. Just my 2 cents. i have seen it over and over and over, with wide eyed amazement.
The few I had that have risen to the occasion made all of the other stuff semi tolerable. I had some crazy good teams, and some crazy stories to go along with them!!

Good luck Cat, it looks like I'll be watching From Darby this weekend, we'll catch up.
