Columbus City League Championships

  • It is what it is
I like the silly response! :RpS_flapper:

On a serious note, however, I think Mifflin has a chance to have 5 or 6 DQ's! :RpS_w00t:

It is what it is: I agree that you guys should get at least 5 out of the Licking Valley Sectional. Not the toughest Sectional in the state. Some weights are going to be excellent, but others are going to stink. I hope you get 6 out, and I hope MFHS gets 3-4 out. Centennial should get a few out as well. the city should be well represented at the district level.

lowsingle174, question a bit off topic but did or do you work out at Flag Center (Schrock & Cleveland)?

    And I'm not tapping yet:).

The "karma" deal is a little played out and I won't go into details, but people shouldn't throw rocks when they live in glass houses!
Rumors often have little truth to them, so people saying this or that or making assumptions about what did or didn't happen and who or who wasn't involved are laughable!
Individuals identified or suspected were questioned (ask the head of athletics downtown) and those responsible (without question) are no longer with the program!
Good luck to all at sectionals!!

lowsingle174, (I'm an old timer) I'll try to stop in and meet you. Tell Jeff, Vince and Robin we said hi from Sunbury. I used to work out with Jeff, Vince and Brent months before the 1st UFC fight. Kids and health issues made me stop. Stopped in a couple times and talked to Robin though (nice guy).

Good luck to you and your family this year: thumbup:.

Excellent! I have had the opportunity to be a part of the Gracie Academy for about 9 years. Robin, Vince, Jeff all great people. You need to stop in and roll lightly! Get back on the horse!
Well, I'm glad to meet you and look forward to talking with you if you ever choose to stop in. I will be at Darby this year for districts. If you happen to know any of the fools on here like Cruiser, have him point you in my direction so we can talk! Have a good one!

lowsingle174, I basically follow DII and a friend of mine has a nephew (Kaleb Romero) that wrestles DIII. My horses are out of the race but I "can't get away from the track":). I may be out of town the week of the districts but I'll stop by at Flag Center to meet you. Or I'll try to track you down at the state tournament): thumbup:.

Again, good luck this year. Looking forward to meet you........... One of the funniest things I heard while working out with those guys was Vince telling Jeff "you can't even adjust a clock". Chiropracter (sp) joke.:RpS_w00t:.

I will repost on the open mat thread after season, but I just wanted to put it out there now. Columbus West High School will be holding open mats every Sunday starting April 6th from 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM. We will run open mats every Sunday throughout the spring and summer (except Easter Sunday April 20th). Whitehall open mats start at 5PM, so if you want double work you can make it there in time (I will be taking some of my kids over there after). All are welcome. We have a new room and plenty of space.

This coachchuck is quite the character throwing stones. As a former city league wrestler, I like to follow the city kids when I can. I also think the city league kids and ESPECIALLY coaches should stick together especially when it comes to sectionals and beyond. Especially since all city league coaches have a special set of struggles with the kids they deal with regularly. For coachchuck to throw out comments about a kid who was judged without facts is crazy, and then to try and judge the coaches and their morals, when coachchucks morals are so HIGH he is no longer coaching at Walnut RIdge why????? Oh maybe people were judging you too without all the facts. Hannibal Tate might be a little cocky on the mat but I have personally known him since he was a little kid and he is really a good kid. The inner city kids have enough odds against them especially in the wrestling world. You should be ashamed of yourself for judging this boy instead of cheering for the city league!!!

Congrats to Whetstone on the team win. But the comment about North or Bobo competing with Tate was ridiculous

my reasons for not being at walnut ride stem from a personal matter in my house. The principal jumped the gun on the decision to keep me but at the end of the day i still got my job with the district and got another coaching job with a school that waited to let everything play out.

I call a spade a spade when i have had city guys make bad choices i have bit the bullet (Gusan) Junior year kicked off the football team that hurt us but it was the right thing to do. (Schembri) caught with something extra in his bag missed two tournaments. i have alot of fun with the guys in this league and they all know me i dont pull punches and speak the truth even if it comes off like im a d*&K end of the day IT IS WHAT IT IS (your my boy blue).

I like to see what former wrestlers have to say about the city league and wrestling in general, but if you really want to make your point about things you have to put your name on it.

Noticed coachchuck's post was taken down. Why, I don't know?? I think everyone is entitled to their opinion (there are rules on forums for opinions that cross the line of decency/language/personal attacks), but just like Patrick Swayze said in Road House, "opinions vary"!! :RpS_flapper:

I get along with almost every coach in the city and believe most of them to be advocates for kids and their sport (I coach 3 sports and teach P.E.), so let's not beat a dead horse (situation was handled, whoever doesn't like it, that's their problem!).

Good luck to all the city wrestlers vying for a spot at the Schott!! : thumbup:
