    Central, Ohio/Capital (toss-up), Cardinal.

With Liberty, Marysville, and Davidson in the Central, I expect them to stay on top for a while.

The Cardinal has some programs at the top that will almost always be strong (Darby, Bradley & North). Unfortunately, Central and South are almost non-existant and the division is made weaker by a once proud program like Scioto struggling so mightily. The top ain't strong enough to off-set the bottom, whereas the Capital has pretty good balance.

    My very very early picks:

    1. Central-Marysville, Davidson, Liberty, Crossing, Coffman, TW, UA, Westland.

    2. Capital-Delaware, Mt. Vernon, Orange, BW, Olentangy, Kilbourne, New Albany, Franklin Hts

    3. Ohio-Pick North, Pick Central, Lancaster, Gahanna, Grove City, Reynoldsburg, Newark, Groveport ?

    4. Cardinal- Darby, Bradley, West North, CW, Dublin Jerome, Scioto, West Central, West South.

Yep. And they did the associated Kilboure for Canal swap effective with the 13/14 season as well.

Maybe you can go over to J.J.'s place and start a thread about DeSales middle school program. Those are always really interesting:thumbup:

Yea, i figured some summer wrestling talk would be good

    anyone get some transfers ?

Dust_E_Roads- I heard Demas is going to Coffman, will Scioto be any better in 13/14 ?

Sadly, I believe that to be true. Personally, I think it is a mistake, because I believe "the problem" at Scioto is a temporary one that won't last and the kid will be hugely successful and likely win multiple state championships where ever he goes. Coffman is a bigger school with more successful programs and more distractions. Personally, I'd love to see him on Hard Road and helping to fill the gymnsium like Languis and Gordon used to.

Scioto is still another year away from being competitive IMO. They'll be soph heavy, with a handful of Juniors and 3 contribuing seniors. If the younger guys hold together and don't quit after the baptism of fire they had last year, in a couple of years I could see them having a year like TW had this past year. Being a good, solid dual team with experienced wrestlers at most classes. In 13/14 they'll just be too young at too many weights to compete.

Who are some key guys coming back from each school? Maybe some newcomers that will surprise?

As a fan, it interests me to see which guys are punching the clock in the off-season.

As a coach, I'll can post my squad's info, but don't want to be "that guy"** with no one else pitching in.

(**"that guy" is trademarked to Mark "Cruiser 94/86" Niemann. He owns all rights (except animation), including merch, soft drinks and vintage T's)

Dublin Jerome will be strong in the lower to middle weights, with DQ's Seth Transue (106), Josh Transue (113), Liam Dunlea (120), Alex Jacobs (132), and Logan Mosher (138 ) returning. Their HVY (Paesano) was just a freshman, but he is another year away from making some noise, in my opinion. The Central District will be more broadly strong at the HVY class in 13/14, in my opinion, as I believe 11 of 16 DQs return at that weightclass. I don't believe they have any newcomers expected to make any impact.

Dust_E, with Hamilton Township possibly moving up to d1 you also see the move in of d2 SQ @ HWT Alonzo Jewell. Also, Chris Crumb looked gigantic at New Albany Duals, and not in a bad way either. We may see him up at HWT.
  • knightflyer150
I understand Crumb will be at HWT for the Tangy.

    ORANGE
SQ Lenn's Kamba returns at 195, along with DQs Michael Hines (a former district placer projected at 126/132) and Nick Lee (220). Three district alternates should take the next step: Michael McQueeney (106/113), Alec Farmer (120/126) and Anthony Spriggs (145/152). 10th grader Albert Van Fossen is very tough and trying to grow into heavyweight. Lots of wrestling years bouncing around the rising 10th and 11th graders, but it has to translate. Strong ninth grade group coming in with lots of OAC experience.

Don't let me be "that guy"....let's hear some more.
  • Dust_E_Roads
Wow! jewell and Crumb would make a crowded HWT picture even more crowded. The class was a little soft (overall) last year, in my opinion. There will definitely be a lot more depth to the weight class this year.

I was very curious about Crumb and what his intentions would be. I guess we know now. Kind of frightening to think that he's turned into a HWT based on added muscle when he was already as strong as an ox.

Too bad he vacates from 220. I was looking forward to seeing he and Struttman go at it.
  • knightflyer150
BTW, anyone that underestimates the firepower Delaware Hayes and Coach Heffernan will bring to the table is foolish. On paper, they are the deepest and strongest team in Central Ohio. I think they graduated one starter from a very good team and add in 3 or so OAC-experienced kids. Plus, a big off-season buy-in. If he can shoe-horn everyone into the line-up, I think they are the team to beat. Marysville will push.
  • HilliardDad
Darby lost some good seniors last year, SP Walker, SA/Q Valenti, probable (injury) SQ Donatelli, DQ Ruiz,Mankin,Martin.

I have no insight into weights next year, I'm assuming a lot of kids will move up, I'm putting in last years weights for now.

Darby is returning two State Qualifiers (Parker @ 182 and Black @ 145) IMHO Donatelli @ 152 (the younger) would have been a DQ at the very least if not for injury. Same for Garrett @ 113. Valenti the younger (@106) would have likely been a DQ in any other sectional (top 4 at that sectional were the 4 SQ @ 106) Also, returning DQ Miller (HVY) and bringing in a good freshman class, some of whom will push for spots in the lower weights.

Again, weights listed are last years, not projecting next years

With Marysville, Davidson, and rapidly improving Liberty,UA, Thomas Worthington,Coffman, Central and Westland this league looks to be the best.
  • Dust_E_Roads
Westerville North should be extremely solid. I'd project them as a early favorite in the Cardinal and think they could stand up to any of the top teams in the district in a Dual. They'll be returning the following DQ's:

    Disabato (113), Cumer (120), Kline (126), Durieux (132), Hinz (152), Kramer (195) Struttman (220), Archer (285)

Disabato, Durieux, Hinz, and Struttman belong in any conversation of the top central ohio wrestlers in their class, in my opinion.

Rank the OCC/ the one Marysville is in is the top one right now.

ScoutingOhio is reporting that WN's Struttman got a football offer from Eastern Michigan. Congrats!

Darby and Bradley should contend with Westerville North. On paper North appears to be tops in league and maybe area.

Should be interesting as WN is definitely loaded. Getting 8 DQs back is IMPRESSIVE!

Bradley will be stacked in their lower weights(Campbell Lemmerman young Stratton McGrath twins the Peaches kid from Georgia) and will have SQ Stratton @ 195 (give or take one) and Driscoll should be fully healthy next yr @ 170 (give or take one) in the uppers. If they can get some production from the uppers to fill in they could be scary.

Darby is losing alot of quality Srs as HD said, but I expect that Coach Moody will have the younger kids ready to step in and scrap to give it their all. Will be lead by 2 SQs Srs(Black and Parker) and a talented Jr class(6 starters in the line up since Frosh). Some of the Frosh/Sophs will need to step up to fill in the line up but as HD said there is some good quality kids coming up. Heritage MS program has been pretty solid for a while.

These 3 WN HB and HD will battle it out again for the top Cardinal spots.
I would expect the next tier to be the dublins(some good quality but noth enogh depth overall) and Canal?? Not sure what the Indians bring depth wise but I know they will have a few Hammers(Hammonds). Where's Dad4???

WS has a couple good Srs (Llaneza) but not much depth.
And I dont know what WC has to be honest.
  • Cthelites
Marysville is the gold standard. I know they are losing alot but untill I see them off the perch, im going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Davidson is up there although they are losing a bunch. I wonder who will end up there this yr espescially since the transer penalty has pretty much been neutered.
Liberty is stacked at the lowers(will depend if they can get some bigs to help out. UA has improved too.

Both Delaware and Mt Vernon both will be a force and are still relatively young. Look out.

Will the Jacket bring home an Ohio title to PC or will PN take it?

The Warhawks will probably be at the bottom again. They lose their best wrestler (Krasovec -- DQ @ 152). Their only other DQ was at HWT (Walker). He is serviceable, but won't get past the top 285's in the District, especially with Crumb and Jewell now in the mux.
