Should be very competitive. -
Dust_E_RoadsYikes. Heavyweight looks really week.
145 and 152 will probably be pretty competitive weights. -
Blast82.5106: Nace (TV), Gutierrez (PN), Laney (GM), Furnas (OL) ... 4 of top 5/6 guys in the district in one sectional.

Nace has finally grown into the weight class a bit and has some horsepower himself now.....seems to have Gutierrez' number though. If you assume they will be seeded 1-2 here, it might work out for Peyton if he can get to the finals. That way he would be on the opposite side of the bracket at Darby. Laney has been improving weekly though and may have something to say about that! Great possible semi.....Gutierrez vs Laney.Blast82.5;1375974 wrote:106: Nace (TV), Gutierrez (PN), Laney (GM), Furnas (OL) ... 4 of top 5/6 guys in the district in one sectional. -
USMCdevil2005I think if Laney stays on the attack like he has been he beats Guitierrez in the Semis. He wrestled very well at the cruiser invite only losing to Nace 11-4 I believe. He beat Jay 6-4 from whitehall and Guiterrez only beat jay in the last seconds with a takedown. The kid is scrappy and hard to wrestle.

What's your take on Gutierrez? I figured he was on track for a huge Senior season, but it hasn't turned out that way.....yet. Normally ANY senior at 106 can be tough.....let alone one with PG's credentials. Has be been healthy....weight an issue? He certainly could turn things around here at the end of the year.....but a bit of a puzzle to me. Good luck to him!USMCdevil2005;1376227 wrote:I think if Laney stays on the attack like he has been he beats Guitierrez in the Semis. I believe that Garrett is the sleeper in the 113 room - the guy is a beast (and major tattoos). Not sure where he was early in the season, but I would not underestimate him.
I bet Gutierrez is probably enjoying his senior year. To me he seems to be a really balanced young man. He almost always a smile on his face and something funny to say. He always seems to come through, though. I would guess podium again this year. -
USMCdevil2005
I think he is a great kid and a great wrestlers. That being said I think Luke Nace just has his number right now and has improved much more than him since last year and since the first time they met this season. Nace is top 3 in the state right now I think. He has faced a lot of tough competitors and has only lost to Assad @ Brecksville. I think Guitierrez and Laney will be a throw down match. Two tough kids. I also think both of them could be on the podium, and by could I would put my money on it that Nace, Guit, and Laney all 3 are standing on the podium @ the Schott!Dad4Sports;1376498 wrote:What's your take on Gutierrez? I think Greg Brusco has a strong chance of being number 1 of the group. I believe he is driven to make weight for the three weeks - another good young man and great wrestler. I think 4th out of central is a really tough one between Furnas and Laney - they both have been working really hard the past year. You never know what will happen on "the day".USMCdevil2005;1376530 wrote:I think he is a great kid and a great wrestlers. USMCdevil2005Yes Brusco has potential to beat them all. I think he has a better chance at 2-4 here. I honestly think Nace has taken himself to another level than the others mentioned. He is very impressive and much improved and gets better every week.
-
USMCdevil2005I think your state qualifiers will be Nace, Brusco, Guit, and Laney. With Furnace and Lakso battling to place.

all from this sectional except lasko wow! Throw in lil valenti to this mix and 2 quality kids arent going to darby.USMCdevil2005;1376590 wrote:I think your state qualifiers will be Nace, Brusco, Guit, and Laney. With Furnace and Lakso battling to place. -
GregHinesBrusco is from Delaware Hayes - Westland sectional
-
USMCdevil2005Also Gill from Hilliard Davidson is a competitor at Darby. I believe he has a win over Lakso??? I could be wrong.

He also has a win over Laney. IMO, he's capable of a top 4 finish at Darby.USMCdevil2005;1376768 wrote:Also Gill from Hilliard Davidson is a competitor at Darby. I believe he has a win over Lakso??? I could be wrong. -
GregHinesLike last year, 106 will be a tough weight class!
-
USMCdevil2005I love it that all our 106 er's can pretty much compete with anyone in the state. A lot of talent there and a promising future for the central district.
-
Blast82.5Brusco gets out at 106 or 113. 106 has proven so difficult to make, and he's done very well at 113; seems like he could keep the focus on wrestling (not weight) if he stayed at 113. Of course, that's a decision lots of guys have to make at one point or another!
-
iGranbyGill is my pick to sneak into the top 4 at the district. More on topic for this thread, I like Laney to make an upset in the semis here.
-

Has to get out of (a though) sectional tournament first. Last I checked, kids don't roll over for you.iGranby;1376888 wrote:Gill is my pick to sneak into the top 4 at the district. More on topic for this thread, I like Laney to make an upset in the semis here. -

You are very correct though. -
CockyCatholicWrestlerWhen Laney and Jay wrestled at Groveport for third and fourth they both looked like they weren't trying especially Jay. Whitehall's coaches were sitting there looking at each other like what is going on. Don't get me wrong Laney is a good wrestler but I don't see him making it out of districts.
-
cruiser_96Given that there are only four state qualification spots and 16 wrestlers who make up the district tournament, that is certainly a possible outcome. 1 out of four make it... 3 out of four don't.
