Actually a very Mills controlled match. Not much action. Great match for Mills.

That was a great match, actually the match that won the tourney for Mifflin. Exciting match! Nice job to West and Centennial as well rounding out the top 3.
Congrats to Chasden Wright, Branden Clark, Charles Parkham, James Mosely, Brandon New, Jhulius Monroe, Deante Gray, and To city Champ David Wellborn. There is a lot of work to be done to get back to where we were..
As always, it was great to see the likes of all the city coaches and hang out with them. I miss the camaraderie, good luck in the post season!

Coach Jones...we all know the final tally and congrats for Whetstone's third place finish...Lowsingle was too busy gnawing on a chicken leg and putting a submission hold on Ritchie's right bicep.:D

Congratulations to Mifflin for winning their first schooltitle. Coach T had his boys ready towrestle and they showed up. Also greatjob to the West wrestlers and coaching staff for their 2nd place finish. A very special congratulations to coach CCoach of the Year. I wish all of theCity League kids the very best this coming weekend step it up and wrestlehard.

After watching the kids wrestle this pass weekend who do youthink was the most impressive wrestler and the deepest weigh class? Along with that which weight class do youthink will have the most district qualifiers? Here's my breakdown:
106 I see Ali, Bonner and maybe Shafeek all getting out inDII and Abdi in DI. This weight classjust might have the most CCL district qualifiers this year.
113 I see Lehnen getting out in DI and Brian, Jackson andEmerson as a very long shot.
120 I see Gasca getting out in DI Tate and Wright have agood shot at getting out in DII.
126 If Em is on he should get out at DI and Rister shouldmake it out at DII.
132 I see Smothers making it out at DI and Chatman a longshot at DII. Anyone else at this weightis icing on the cake.
138 Alexander is the only kid I see getting out at thisweight class.
145 Mills and Parkham both make it out in DII. The way it looks now Bowman will be in themix however it depends who's in this weight class. I think138 could have all the top kids inthis sectional so some one might bump up to the weaker 145 weight class. Depending on who and if it happens could stopBowman from qualifying.
152 Tate and Bobo both makes it out. This weight class is wide open in DI so Boboneeds to bring his A game and he should do just fine.
160 Valentine and Bonner should make it out at DII. DI depending on seeding Juty and Au mightmake it out but this is a deep weight class and they might face each other inthe qualification match.
170 North should make it out in DI and Bibbons has a goodshot at DII anyone else again is just icing on the cake.
182 Quinonez and Monroe both make it out and maybe one otherkid if they step it up.
195 DII Wellborn and McGlown both should make it out. DI I see only 1 kid making it out?
220 I see Robinson getting out at DII and I must say that I wasvery impressed with watching him beat 2 returning champions and districtqualifiers in Juty and Stockton on his way to the title he did it the hard way. At this sectional Stockton and Juty will have to win one or twomatches against kids that will be seeded above them to get into that 3 and 4slot. And depending on seeding they mightend up knocking the other one out. Justlike 138 this is a very deep weight class in which I think that 2 or maybe morecould be in the top 4 at Darby. We'llhave to wait and see only time will tell I do know that 3 of the kids in thisweight could drop to the weaker 195 weight class.
285 I see only the twins getting out.

There are a few dark horses that might have a shot atgetting out. Share your thoughts andinsight especially with all the DII kids please.

Stockton will be the #4 seed at Marysville.
  • 80baby
oldskoolnike: Ihope he does make it out here's what I see at this weight class: 1 Mowery 2Miller which that could go either way and I see them two being in the top 4 atDarby. Struttman will be the 3 seed thenStockton at4. I'm not sure of the kids name butI've heard that Lancasterhas a tough kid at 220. so who beatswhom for the last 2 spots at this sectional? I think if the right kids get hotthen there will be a surprise at this weight.

Getting to districts isn't easy especially if you draw a tough sectional. That being said, here is my 2cents:

106: Ali and Bonner in DII, possibly Abdi in DI

    113: Lehnen in DI

120: Gasca in DI, Tate in DII

    126: Rister in DII

    132: possibly Chatman in DII

    138: Alexander (duh) in DI

145: Mills (see above) and Parkham in DII

152: Tate (see above again) in DII

160: Valentine and Bonner in DII

170: possibly Taylor and Gibbons in DII

182: Quinonez in DI and Monroe in DII, possibly Stevens in DII

195: possibly Wellborn and McGlown in DII

220: Stockton in DI and Robinson in DII

285: Gray in DI and Gray in DII

Let's get ready to rumble!!

We may be bumping up Rister to 132 and Valentin to 170:

126 - Jonathan Alder (Yutzy), London, Utica, River Valley

132 - Whitehall, Licking Heights, Jonathan Alder (Eye), Bishop Watterson

We saw Whitehall and got crushed at 132, my other kid got dec by Licking Heights. Seems more likely Rister may sneak into 3rd/4th at 132 than 126. Any feedback from coaches that have seen any of these other schools would be apprecaited.

160 - London, Whitehall, Big Walnut, River Valley, Jonathan Alder - and just found out Fergusen from DeSales made scratch last weekend and will be here at Licking Valley sectional.

170 - Whitehall (we beat in OT), Big Walnut, East, and possibly Lakewood if King comes down from 182 but I have heard he is staying up there, he comes down he is clear #1.

Again any and all thoughts from city coaches that have seen these other schools would be greatly appreciated.

195 - Could see three city kids get out (MF, WR, South) only kid I have seen that is decent at this weight is the Whitehall kid.

Both those moves make sense to me.

Wow it was a good day for the kids at West and theircoaching staff they got 5 out in DI. That’sthe total count from all 4 DI City schools. West had 2 other alternates Briggs, Northland and Whetstone all had onealternate each. It was some what of abad day for DI city schools. Granted therewere 2 kids that didn't wrestle today one each from Briggs and Whetstone that Ithink would have made it out if they would have wrestled and of course theAlexander but all of that’s a done deal.

So what do the rest of the City League schools have toreport? Lets get a total count and seehow our kids did today.

Mifflin got 4 out (3 champs and a 3rd) and has 3 alts.
  • It is what it is
    South got 2 out (2 3rds) and 1 alt.
    East got 2 out (1 2nd and 1 3rd)
Centennial got 1 out (4th) and 1 alt.

    Not sure about LV sectional

Total count is 22 from DI&DII and it didn't look like anyone got out in DIII. Good job to all the wrestlers and I wish everyone the very best next week now lets take it to the next level.
