Wrestling Poll?

  • Cthelites
    Where's the poll?
No local team poll in the Dispatch this week.
No local individuals AGAIN for 3rd straight week.
No wonder wrestling gets no love!
We cant even seem to get it on the internet to talk about let alone that crap Dispatch!
    SAD!

It used to come out every week......

It is surprising how quiet the forum is considering where we're at in the season. Not to mention "That Site That Shall Not Be Mentioned" is nothing but MS and youth now. Sad.

100% agree. Our sport is dying a slow death in Central Ohio.

Is it just me or does the "sport" of bowling seem to be getting a lot of space and attention?
  • Cthelites
    Thnx Cruiser.
    Its just very frustrating.
I only keep that rag during football season and decided to keep it going thru wrestling season.
    Cancelled!
Anyone know the email for the sports editor that can post it here.
    Hes going to get some!

Booboo...way too much bowling and swimming and girls basketball for my taste! Rediculou!

Great write up in Springfield again AND not on Graham. Kermit Rowe rules.

Would it benefit the sport if their was one dominate private school, like a Lakewood St Edward or Moeller located in Columbus?
Meaning St Edward gets a good amount of the blue chip wrestlers in the Cleveland area, while Moeller pulls from Cincinnati.
Do kids from other schools work out with each other around central Ohio?
  • Dad4Sports
As always.....it goes back to the Dispatch. At least they used to cover the so called "minor" sports on their high school sports blog. Not anymore.....and they can't use the "limited space" excuse there.

Since they continually drop the ball over there, it would be great if the coaches reps could post the weekly rankings here on this forum.

    Thanks in advance.....

Is it time that the CDWCA had their own publication? Stories, rankings, results, photos, videos, marketing schemes? I think we are getting to that time that we need to explore it, but it would be a lot of work and dedication. I know that it would be hard for a coach to put that much focus into something like this during the season; but as a Central Ohio wrestling community we need to find a way!

Guys sporadically get together in the off season. Hilliard Darby has put a strong effort into having a club that guys from all over Central Ohio can attend and wrestle each each other. We need more of that in Central Ohio.

Looking at the division three rankings, Will Martello (Ready) majored Wing of Newark Catholic at CIT's while both were at 138 (Wing is ranked at 145). I'm not sure what Newark Catholic plans on doing for postseason but I've seen Hansel and Wing at both 138/145. I know that Ready still needs to have a wrestle-off to determine 132/138/145 between three wrestlers (one of which is Martello). Overall, the team rankings look pretty accurate.

    Interesting question.
I think this is why Central Oh is so unique in the state.
    There is no true power.
Marysville is coming on strong lately. Along with the usual strong Olentangies and Hilliards and Picktowns, but the splits have generally hurt the multi schools. Things are very balanced here comparatively around the state.

As far as training together...no it really doesnt happen.
Mirons attracts a great group of 20-30 HS kids.
Other than that during the season nothing is set up.
As underrated stated, we are promoting a club/open mat at Darby for all of Cent Oh on Monday nights.
We'd love for this to expand thruout Cent Oh. But it has to have a foundation first to expand. Our numbers have been very good and steady for being new but I do get surprised by who isnt coming.
We are working hard for Central Oh to get better.

Ray Stein [email protected] <[email protected]> is the sports editor.

I sent an email to the general comments mailbox earlier today. I simply asked if they could post all high school wrestling results in the electronic edition (they post all unedited letters to the editor in the electronic edition) since it was not driven by space. We'll see what they say; it's a 5 day window for them to reply.....I'm not holding my breath but will keep an open mind.

    Mr. Editor:

Your local HS wrestling coverage stinks!
You cant even list the local polls and local individual rankings.
    It is SAD!
Is bowling and swimming and girls basketball REALLY that popular that you don't have enough space for it?
    You lost a subscriber!

    Good!
    What exactly?

Another thing that you can bring up is if you cant send in the results of your league duals, you forfeit the right to host such event.
  • Cthelites
I think Wilson (HDv) now down to 126 should be in there.

Oh, I like that idea...might shake a few people up and give credit to those who do send stats in after each meet....
