I sent an email to the general comments mailbox earlier today. I simply asked if they could post all high school wrestling results in the electronic edition (they post all unedited letters to the editor in the electronic edition) since it was not driven by space. We'll see what they say; it's a 5 day window for them to reply.....I'm not holding my breath but will keep an open mind.
Mr. Stein,
I have searched the paper for wrestling coverage. You don't have it. Why don't you cover high school wrestling? Ohio is known as one of the premier hotbeds for high school wrestling. Wrestlers from Ohio are heavily recruited by colleges across the country. According to OHSAA, there are more than 14,000 Ohio high school boys participating in wrestling this year. Additionally, according to the NFHS, there are more boys in Ohio participating in wrestling this year than all of the girls competing in gymnastics, swimming, field hockey, and lacrosse combined, yet even in your online version of the paper there is no coverage of high school wrestling. It is odd, the Plain Dealer has several current articles covering the sport. I can easily find who is ranked in their area, but for the past several weeks I have not found one word about wrestling in our area. Who are the ranked wrestlers in our area? What about the premier teams in the central district? Where are last Thursday's OCC results? To be honest, you are really missing the mark on this. It is more than a little naive to assume that Columbus residents have no interest in high school wrestling. I sincerely hope you reconsider your decision not to cover the sport.

SidSomething interesting I noticed from the rankings of D-1 and ironically enough at the Groveport tournament. 170 Sowry (UA) who is ranked 3rd in the central Ohio rankings was pinned in the first period by Mayes (NY) and pinned in the second period by Wogan (LV) at the event.

CoachSReason for that Cthelites is that these wrestlers or wrestling parents dosn't want their wrestlers wrestling someone that they are going to wrestle in a Division Dual or Sectional. That would be my guess.

Cthelites
And thats why we(cent Oh) get the snot kicked out of us up at the schott IMO.CoachS;1068924 wrote:Reason for that Cthelites is that these wrestlers or wrestling parents dosn't want their wrestlers wrestling someone that they are going to wrestle in a Division Dual or Sectional. Too many people here worry about just making it to the schott instead of trying to win or get on the podium.
Thats why we have the most 2 and outs. The results dont lie. That mindset is killing us!
GET BETTER! Wrestle and practice with the best kids you can. Thats the only way you will get better.
Why do kids go to Jordans? To seek out the best.
Same with Prodigy and Burnetts. You seriously think that the best kids going to those places arent going to go anymore because some kids from the same district/sectional start coming?
Its this weak mindset keeping us down. (and this isnt directed directly to you CoachS) -

Logic will not be accepted! Nice to see you still trying though.
