solid ranks cruiser, on a side note Bloss has already made the drop to 113, with Kakos now at 120 and looking VERY tough.

I believe that the district tournament will be between Marysville and Olentangy. I don't see anyone getting close to them. Pick. Central finished several places in front of Hilliard Bradley at GMVWA this past week and so did Mt. Vernon, just throwing in some results for thought. I think Pick. North also might be a little high in the rankings. Don't really have any big studs on the team except for at 106 and 285. Definitely have some solid kids in the middle, but I don't know if they're the 5th best team in the district.

Westie: did that drop take place at Ready?

Pinem07: I'm looking forward to seeing how the OCC Ohio plays out. L-town, Picks Central and North seem to be a 3-horse race. The real battle will be for that 4 spot. Because we ALL no that a) winning the OCC is everything, and b) getting 4th allows for almost 365 days of bragging rights! The Burg, Grove City and Gahanna will look to make that coveted spot theirs. Newark walks with 7th. It appears this is the only division with 7 teams. Hmmm...

I think kemba at 195 from orange should be ranked. He placed at north Canton and brecksville. Very tough sophnore. But all around good rankings.

Pinem it's Marysville's District to lose. If they show up to compete then they will win. If they don't then possibly Olentangy maybe even Teays, Davidson or Liberty can challenge.

    Pretty interesting!
Im not sure how they match up, but Olentangy will definitely have a say.
They looked pretty freaking solid at Medina taking 4th still without Torti who will score some points.
Then you have Davidson who will be in the mix now with DeLande and Mickley finally returning. Heard Wilson hurt a shoulder again at Brecksville. Hope he can continue. I feel bad for all that kid has been thru the past 2 yrs.
I think 3rd will be a dog fight between Davidson Teays Lancaster and Liberty.
What a nice luxury to have bookend first ranked kids at PN!

Marysville has 5 ranked kids in that poll with Boyd and Thirkield not far behind. After that they probably got a few more that can pitch in some points as well. Olentangy has some guns to but outside of what's in the poll who else can score for them at District level? Torti has yet to see the lineup and if he comes back then he can be added to the mix. Davidson actually has the next best scenario to maximize point value. There 145 will be a load for everybody in that weight in 2 months. Delande and Mickley solid as well as 220/113 and if Wilson get healthy enough they can win it all. If those three drop the ball or pairings go bad then the others will be brought into the mix.
  • Cthelites
Marysville is a load for sure.

Good luck to both them and Olentangy in the state Duals this Sunday!

Doesn't look good does it? I'm no doctor, but I don't see how that shoulder can possibly hold up against the higher quality opponents. The thought of some one cranking the half makes me cringe. Still he can beat most of the others and still score valuable team points. Add in a few well-timed ff/defaults at sectionals and district and who knows?

    Last I checked didn't Fox(DS) handle Bowens(HD)?

Yes he did and Fox looked great.
Bowens tried too many of his big moves that dont work on top quality kids like Fox.
Fox did a great job countering what Bowens was trying. He got up quickly on Bowens and he just kept digging himself deeper as the match went on. I like Bowens in a rematch.
He is a big match wrestler and showed it at Medina dominating everyone except in his semi match(he had a brain cramp in that one too) finishing 3rd.

Medina as well as Brecksville were both weaker tournaments this year. Brecksville was down for a number of reason 7 or 8 less teams and Monoroville/Chanel were down or not there. When you take Eds out of the equation of Medina you weaken the field considerably. Both tournaments had weight classes that were as tough as they usual. I can't speak for Medina becasue I wasn't personally there but a few weights at Brecksville were extremely weak.

It will be close, Thomas Taylor did not wrestle at Brecksville due to a skin issue, if he does Mville probally finishes 3rd. I feel bad for Wilson, I spoke to him at the tournament after his injury

I agree he is very good and I would think he beats Reed when they meet up.

What I really want to see is how the Central district does at the state tournament without a sectional outside of Central Ohio. They did add some teams to D1 with Olentangy and Canal Winchester. Theres many kids that could compete to get to the finals or place high as long as they show up to wrestle.

It will be a good district this year. I'm excited to see everybody on all cylinders. Davidson always peaks at the right time and could possibly get 6 out, teays will get 4 possibly 5 or 6 out as long as everyone OS clicking. Plus two district champs would score points too.
  • cruiser_96
maddog140: I'm an idiot. (but you knew that.) I received two emails regarding Fox. In response, I referenced the match at Pick. North! Again, #idiot.

I agree I would love to see Nace get 4 or more out he runs a first class team and this seems to be one of his stronger teams.

Keep an eye out for Deluse from Lancaster. Already has wins over Tullius and Horner this season. Also, @152 Beatty has a 10-3 win over Sunkle

Marysville is the best team hands down. Olen is good but Marysville always wrestles their best at the end of the season. Whatever they are doing up there is working. I guess there is something in the water around there! Teays also looks very good. They just have to come to wrestle in the district tourney. Davidson is shaky to say the least. A lot of work for them..... Is Delande and Mickley even on the team still? I would say the Davidson staff has some work to do...

Its still the first week of Jan.
DeLande and Mickley will be in the line up this week. I think that steadies the line up ALOT!
If Wilson is healthy they will challenge for top 3 at district and the OCC Central title.
    106 Gill very solid DQ
    113 Davis SQ possible
    120 Tate young
    126 Lawler DQ
132 Wilson (if healthy he may drop too) SQ/SP possible
    138 Duhl poss DQ
    145 Tate poss SQ
    154 DeLande returning STATE CHAMP!
160 Mickley former SQ will get back this yr
    170 Kusmahl(sp) DQ
    180 ?
    195 Barnett young
    220 Backenstowe poss SQ

The best thing is that Olentangy and Marysville will actually wrestle each other in a dual meet. So, this can all be settled on the mat instead of opinion polls. I will be there. Should be a great match. I think the district will depend more upon bonus points for finishing in the top 4 than the points on the bottom. As long as the two don't end up in the same sectional (which would be almost impossible), I expect both teams will qualify numerous wrestlers for district. So, I don't see that influencing things as much.

I also think Olentangy will see Hillard Davidson at Reiman Invitational and will dual them up at St. Eds. Another interesting dual.

I've been at Medina for the last 4 years. Although some weight classes may have been less competitive this year than previous years (which is always the case), overall I don't think the tournament as whole declined with St. Eds leaving. Detroit Central Catholic was a very strong addition and they seemed to add some additional teams that also beefed up the competition.
