Central Ohio Down??
-
Con_AlmaYeah, both are quality experiences for kids. Recently, Mount's rise and clean sweep of the OAC has put them in the top 10 nationally.
-
cruiser_96Heck! They could probably take out Navy!!!
-
Con_AlmaWhy I outta....

Prob Offall good points, sure the central is down, but i'm sure it will come back up soon enough. Every district seems to go through this (with maybe an exception for the NE). talant seems to ebb and flow all the time.
-
cruiser_96Central District proper, DI: We sent 40 wrestling to the Schott from Darby... 10 placers. Ugh. If I'm not mistaking, Delande is the only finalist. Give'm heck, Chase!!! We're pulling for you.
BTW: Josh Lowe, aka Bucksman, gave me a stat on Friday morning that I could have done without... It went something like this: Darby had more wrestlers go 0-2 than win a match on Thursday. (Could have done without that.) -
maddog140It looks like I'm not crazy after all lol. Really tho nothing funny about it. This tread wasn't meant to demean the boys here in central Ohio but to figure out what we are doing wrong and what we need to do going forward.
Go Chase!! ALL of Central Ohio is pulling for you! Couldn't be a better kid representing us, as i think you're a class act!!
Just wish it was more then one......................... -
rasslerI wonder why northeast Ohio also has the majority of lottery winners too?
-
cruiser_9670%. That's the percentage I was told by some wild-eyed scientist or a crazy kid.

romulusTHe central district went 19-37 in the first round and the district champ team scored 9 points in 2 days of wrestling. Springboro has a chance at a top ten finish but there not from central ohio. So I would say not down way down. On a brighter note we have a chance for 1 state champ good luck Chase!

romulusI would say Darby didn't fare too well. But on the optimistic side they rocked the percentage of total finalists vs. total state champs they were 3 for 3 for a total of 100% Lorain was only 5 for 10 for a lousy 50%. LOL!!!!! Darby rocks!!!! So that makes us........ um.........not sure but the numbers sure sound good.

Standoff22One big problem I saw this year was that in many cases in the central district the top 4 guys did not make it out. I will not name weight classes or names in respect for those who made it out and were not one of the best 4. If central district wants to make a good showing at state then it's best wrestlers can not "choke" at districts.
-
maddog140take out the dayton schools from our districts and then how do we look? Lets be real. The BEST dayton schools went to the same sectional so they could come to darby!
-
knightflyer150Exhibit 436 as to why we need to step our game up. Compare this to the dispatch....this is Canton's newspaper (my hometown).

BearBoy69In ne Ohio alot of teams wrestle each other so the competition is well "inbred" it just so happens alot of top wrestlers have been from the area so great wrestlers are wrestling each other central Ohio kids and teams need to take a step up in competition and come to more ne Ohio tourneys. And open mats. Central Ohio does produce solid wrestlers too I'm just saying they need to step up the competition to get Thier kids better prepared for the big show in columbus Thier records might suffer maybe a few more losses and a few less stats but it would all be worth it for a better showing in Columbus!

Coach RamirezIt is what it is! The top 4 made it out and if the best didnt make it out and the kids that beat them lost, how do u think they would of fared.

That happens at every District. Some guys show up and some guys fold under the pressure...some guys just have a bad weekend. Inchaurregui and VanCuren didn't make it out up north. -

By my quick count (and I have trouble counting sometimes!) Dayton section schools made up 16 out of the 56 qualifiers from Hilliard or 29%. That is barely more than the 14 that would mathematically be expected since they made up 25% of the teams. They may have stood in line to get to Darby, but I would not call that domination. -
1_beastMOve some teams out of GH to Coshocton...level the field...i saw kids not get out of GH that watched kids from Coshocton go 0-2...kids that the GH wrestlers owned during the season. Get real...lets get the best kids to State

How many teams compete in the GH sectionals? I don't know how large the East sectionals are, but the Central two both had 15 teams this year (with a few East teams included, which leads me to believe they had as large of sectionals there).
At the sectional I was at, I saw a couple good tournament teams (ie: ones with a lot of district and a few state guys), a couple good dual teams (ie: ones with a pretty full line-up with good kids who aren't state-level) and a bunch of teams that, at best, had a couple quality kids. Many of these teams had guys with impressive records inflated because they didn't wrestle overly tough schedules. One kid from a tough team who wasn't that much above .500 took second at the sectional and won two district matches. There's a lot of teams in the Central/East area, it's just that the depth of quality isn't there. Crap, less than a decade ago, the SW was the weak sister...this year, the Cent/East fell to that level.
My question would be if there's a part of the state where sectionals were as small as DI's Marion Harding and DII's Lima Shawnee (8-9 teams) in DIII. If so, teams from neighboring areas need to be put there, so teams from the power regions can have the possibility of being scattered a bit more.
