cruiser_96So every time I go to class, I see a building with solar panels on top of it. That got me thinking... I think I want that for my house.
The back side would get the most sun so I would put them in my roof, back there. The question is would the cost of the solar panels, instillation thereof, the conversion of the supplemental energy supply, etc. be cost effective within, what, 10, 15, 20 years???? From then on it would I guess.
I guess another question would be do we in Columbus get enough sun to warrant such an undertaking? Also, is the technology where it needs to be or is it so early in its development that the panels would be outdated in 5 years?
Just thinking... Your thoughts??? -
Con_AlmaThe US Naval Academy Midshipmen finished 10th in the nation for dual meet attendance this year!
Not bad for a little tiny school on the Chesapeake Bay. -

hizzmuthercruiser... in Ohio we do not get enough sun for you to go completely off the grid. Look around (google it! and think outside the box) for a grant to pay for the costs of the solar panels, installation and maybe even maintenance. There is at least one house in Grove City with solar panels on the roof.

I thought there was a federal tax credit available for that spread over two years. Might want to look into that.cruiser_96;1108940 wrote:So every time I go to class, I see a building with solar panels on top of it. That got me thinking... I think I want that for my house.

cruiser_96Hizzmuther: not really looking to go totally off the grid, just looking to supplement.
Con: I will!
I guess the main thing is AC in the summer. If, by using the sun, we can cut our billby 25, 35, 50%, depending on the initial price to get it in, it could work. We've tried 72... A fan. Sometimes summer is hot. Whatcha gonna do!?
Also, if we are out and about, we can sell the energy back to the electric company! (at least that's what some guy out in Cali was doing a while back.) -
Fab1bTry living in Florida!

cruiser_96ps: I was wrong. I used instillation. I should have used - as hizzmuther did - installation.

Con_Almad3 championship on live at NCAA.com better coverage this year. There's a camera on every mat.

cruiser_96I just read the Aldi Edwards (Thomas Worthington/Ashland) won his first match 4-0! Exceellent.
According to an Olympic website, before point scoring was introduced, wrestling matches continued until one wrestler was finally forced to the ground! To go along with that, one of the longest wrestling contests in Olumpic history occurred at Stockholm in 1912, when a middleweight match between a Ruussian and a Findlandite went on for 11 hours!!! Wow. -
cruiser_96Con: I am EXTREMELY impressed with the D-II coverage. Wow!!!!!!!
-
cruiser_96Hey! The red on mat three (currently) is the ref that blew the Heflin/Zeerip match!
