Figured I'd start this thread too since I'm on a one game (thread starting) winning streak.
Chargers come in at #6 in offense and 17th in defense. They will be missing a game changer in Joey Bosa.
Philip Rivers has been efficient with 13 TD's & 2 INT's.
This would be a huge win. I am not expecting it though.
Fucking sucks that the browns are facing the second toughest schedule in the NFL the rest of the way. I thought the NFL actively tries to do their schedules so that this wouldn’t happen to a previously last place team? SMH
Do they base the SOS off of the opponents current record or do they go off last year's?
As long as Baker's back there, I think this team can hang with anyone. Closing the deal may be a different story.

This will be a tough one. The chargers are a very good team and could very well be a super bowl team. Thankfully this one is at home, it’s always tough on the team that has to travel across the country. Gotta keep the chargers running backs in check in the pass game.

This year. They Do give team’s easier schedules coming into the season based on last year’s results, but that almost never turns out to work out as the nfl is difficult to predict results.

The thing is, that only effects two games, where you'd get the last place team from two other divisions (Jets, Houston for you). Other than that, every team in our division plays every team in the AFC West and NFC South. And in our division, you'd have the perceived toughest schedule by default because every other team would have two games against your 0-16 team from last year, while you'd have 6 games against three teams that combined for 29-19.
Really, toughest schedule in the NFL means nothing until you're at least halfway through the season in order to know how the teams legitimately are this year because with a 16-game season and all the turnover that happens on rosters via the draft, free agency, injuries, holdouts, whatever, you can always count on some changes from who's good and who's bad from year to year.
In Baker I trust, Browns win.

I agree with this for the most part. There are teams on this schedule (Buccs, Falcons, Panthers & Broncos) who, prior to the season, I had penciled in as likely losses. Now, I think they will beat at least three out of those four and get 8-9 wins total. On paper those teams looked tough but after the season has gone on, not so much.
West coast flying to East coast for a 1 PM kick off is usually a good thing for the east coast team. Give me the Browns by 4.
Chargers are really good. Losses to the 2 undefeated teams in the NFL and played them both close. Of course, they struggled with shorthanded Niners and coming east vs Buffalo before taking care of Oakland last week.
I think the Chargers win, but it should be another game down to the wire. Browns will have a shot in this one.

Agreed on both counts, and it'd be huge if we could pull it off--our defense is good enough to win, but our offense is still finding itself...and fwiw, it sure is nice being able to actually discuss the possibility of winning without laughing under my breath.

True. But the SOS has nothing to do with last year. The remaining games Cleveland has to play are tough games. It’s a brutal schedule the rest of the way is basically what I was getting at—and then also saying it sucks that’s the way it is considering how bad we were last year.

The schedules are just rotating divisions and one in each conference. Unfortunately the AFC North is paired with the AFC West giving them 3 tough games and then the NFC South giving 2-3 tough games. Their own division gives 6 games with pretty formidable opponents.....other two games just matched up with 2 remaining AFC division and same place as last year. Browns were 4th so they face 4th place in East (Jets) and 4th Place in South (Texans)
makes it tough on wildcard chances but those teams are teated if they can make it.....facing NFC West and AFC South would’ve been significantly easier
Browns defense needs to bend, don't break, in this one to have a chance. Force the Bolts to FG attempts in that they are starting a rookie kicker who has never kicked in the NFL prior to today.
Also need Callaway to step up to take the focus off Landry. With their legit (he was more consistent than Callaway) #2 down in Higgins, somebody needs to step up. If not Callaway, at least Duke.
If Mayfield can limit mistakes, they have a good shot.
With all this being said, I'm going 26-21 Chargers.
