i believe it goes like this:

1st tiebreaker is head to head (doesn't apply to Pittsburgh and Tennessee)

2nd tiebreaker is division record

3rd tiebreaker is conference record

4th tiebreaker is record against common opponents (In your case - Browns, Colts, Bills, Chargers) Right now - Pittsburgh is 3-1 (with 1 game left against the Bills) and Tennessee is 3-2 against those teams

Got it. I have Pitt losing to Buffalo, so both will be 3-2 against common opponents. Strength of schedule up next?

I think at 9-7 PIT would have had the tie-breaker over TEN based on conference record, if one of those losses had been to ARI.

As it stands now, I think they lose the tiebreaker at 9-7 (assuming they lose to either BUF or BAL).  There's a playoff generator out there somewhere that's usually been really accurate.

I think they'll be at least 10-6, partially because I assume they get BAL second string in Wk17.

I ran through the rest of the season here:

TEN and PIT both at 9-7. TEN is in.

It depends upon who you have Tennessee beating. If their win is against the saints, Steelers would have better conference record.

Strength of victory actually comes before strength of schedule in the tie-breakers.

On the latter, I laughed when I realized they use the record of teams you lost to in determining playoff seeding.  Seems like maybe that should be all the way down the list, only ahead of the coin flip.

I do not have Tennessee beating the Saints. I assume the ESPN link I ran through did not calculate the final seeding incorrectly.

The ESPN playoff machine is great. It is fun to try different things. In some cases when it comes down to strength of schedule, almost every game on the schedule matters if the records are close.
