MLB has a good thing going with Ohtani. It’s the only reason I’m sitting here watching an Astros - Angels game right now.

ESPN Reds/Braves with mic on Votto during the inning is top shelf

Old man yelling at cloud, here. Putting a microphone on someone is fine. I hate, hate, hate when the media steps outside their role of reporting and becomes part of the game.  Mic - OK, two way conversation during play, not.

Curious how old this old man yelling at the cloud is?

I am 35 and loved it. Been clamoring for this ever since they did it in the middle of Spring Training games.

I'm 65. I don't know if it's the age difference or just personal preference. I prefer the idea of game broadcasts being journalism as opposed to part of the entertainment.

I didn’t mind it. I remember the all star game a couple years ago they mic’d up one of the outfielders. But I’m still surprised they did it with a first baseman who’s preparing for a possible line drive at him while trying to hold a conversation.

Buncha posers!

Lets hear the real stuff, mic up the pitchers and hitters. Every one.

My thoughts are….MLB isn’t dominating ratings. Joey Votto is atrocious at 1B….BUT Joey Votto is unpredictable and interesting as a human and with words….to me it almost helps him focus even more to not suck at 1B.

Cone and Perez are both tough listens….I’ll listen to quirky Joey

I can't wait to attend Votto's induction ceremony. His speech will be epic.

Baseball bro fight at Mets / Nats game. MLB players are bigger posers than soccer players faking injuries.  Watching the obligatory rush from the bullpens to “defend our guy” which always ends up with a bunch of screaming, pushing and shoving. They need a little hockey mentality in there.

No one faked an injury….he got hit in the head with a 95 mph baseball, they may have faked toughness but unlike soccer, the ball actually drilled him in the head, one day after Alonso got smashed in the side if his head.

I didn’t mean the injury was faked.  It’s all the false bravado when “benches clear” I’m referring to.  “Benches clear” in baseball is usually a huge eye roll.

Yes, the HBP was rough, no doubt

Unless he was injured, Clayton Kershaw got pulled after 7 innings with an 80 pitch count and a perfect game with 13 K's. Kind of ballsy by the manager.

EDIT: And the reliever comes in, retires a batter, and gives up a hit. lol

Easy way out…just pull pitchers whenever and it’s always the right thing to do.

Kershaw young pup, prolly doesn’t know his arm or body. Prolly should have pulled him after 4 innings.
