McCutchen to the Giants pending physical

Fuck Neil Huntington, Frank Coonelly and Bob Nutting for giving up on aggressively contending after 2016 and turning a potentially perennial playoff team into three appearances and a dramatic return to the form that got them 20-whatever straight losing seasons.
Someone shoots cheap-ass Nutting in the face and I'm throwing a party.

Not sure my Reds could upset me that much. The terrible rebuild never grows towards a playoff team....or even 78 wind

It's just frustrating to see a team win 98 games, get stuck in a one-game wild card against the hottest pitcher in baseball in '15 (Arrieta) and lose and then show no aggression towards getting over the hump. Good pitchers left or retired and they just promoted from within, giving them a very mediocre rotation of guys who average 6 IP, 3 ER on a nightly basis. I mean, some of the shit they went through the last couple years couldn't have been expected (Liriano's collapse, Kang getting kicked out of the country, Marte's 80-game suspension), but so much of the other stuff...
Just the rotation for example. Burnett retires after '15 and the team then just lets JA Happ go elsewhere after being electric for his 2+ months with the team without even trying to make a competitive offer (and it's not like Toronto broke the bank for him). And then decides to let young, untested guys replace them, causing an obvious decline in quality. Just so stupid.
I was hoping McCutch would be a mid season trade to the Tribe.
I think Cutch May struggle in NL West. Power is gone and he’s lost a step and outfields are bigger
Marlins could be even a bigger disaster than before as a few guys want out with how they are constricting the payroll and roster
Jeter may find out it was easier to play than own...
Solid group of HOF. Chopper only the second number 1 overall to make it!
Fun time for those my age where players we saw our whole adult lives are eligible.
Steroid guys get more votes....I think they may make it year 10
Glad to see Vlad make it, crazy how big of a jump he made from year 1 to year 2.

You hear Tim kirstsan story on his tryout this AM?
Showed up with 2 different style of shoes, way too big, worked out for 5 minutes and they signed him right there. He had good stories about all 4. Thome snuck into a mlb dugout before a game when he was 9

I did...all 4 stories were good. Thome’s best and Vlad’s was cool.

Brewers outfield is nice
Was in Huntington to take my daughter out for dinner. Stopped by Huntington Mall and enjoyed the Reds Caravan. Short conversations with Bob Castellini, Bryan Price, Cody Reed, Sal Romano, Buddy Bell and Tom Browning. Top prospect Nick Senzel was there but he didn’t want to be lol. Made him sign a ball.

There seems to always be one who doesn't wanna be there. They used to do a small private stop locally for advertisers and we would go. The place provided food and drink. BP a few times had some pretty crude/flirtatious remarks and one sea so Ryan freel was there and looked miserable when he watches others having a few drinks and he couldn't

I've heard Senzel is a dick.

I mean I can say that by watching and then slowly passing by. My son had two baseballs and the three players were sitting side by side by side....he wanted Senzel on a ball by himself but didn’t want to ignore other two (who were both very nice and cool to us). Senzel was last and after being the 3rd signature on one ball my son handed him another to sign just him. He did but was done with this stop lol. At no point was Senzel having a good time. Reed and Browning stayed after it was over and spoke with people waiting around the mall and signing for them.
The man worth half a billion was the nicest. I was shocked he showed up halfway into it.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Cleveland make one more run at things and the Reds improving a bit. Detroit is going to be fucking awful, cheap tickets but gonna be a rough season.
Really hope the pitch clock that the Minors use is put in effect this year. Went to quite a few Mud Hens games last year because the pace of the game was so nice

Just looked up what moves they made. Yeah. Not bad.

Yeah. So, uh, looks like my Pirates and your Reds ought to have a spirited battle for fourth this year as THE TEAMS WHO MOST ASSUREDLY ARE NOT SPENDING $$$ TO COMPETE AT THIS TIME.
yay...

Not trying to be a homer, but I actually think the reds will hover around .500 this year. They should be a lot better this year IMO. Your buccos are in full rebuild and my pirates fan friends couldn’t be more pissed.

Such is the life cycle of smaller market teams.

What is your rotation and will they all be 1.5 ERA better than last year? You could have had a solid team last year if the offense didn't need to average 7 a game to have a good shot at winning, since you didn't have any trouble on that side of things. Just got shelled on a nightly basis.
Off topic but just saw on twitter
Tony Gwynn had a combined 270 AB vs Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz....he struck out 3 times and hit .396

Amazing but not surprising. Dude could take plus there was more of a negative stigma to striking out back then
