I'm far from a stat "geek" but the overall stats do show that bunting isn't a good idea in those situations.
...and for the umpteenth time, bunting IS a good idea in certain situations..period. Early in the game? hell no. Late innings (8th or later) tied or down a run? hell yes

If it's a suicide squeeze that wins the game, I'm all for it but to bunt a guy over from 2nd with one out? Nah...
My "certain situations" (which I've recounted too many times on here) are man on first, no outs, and tied or down a run in the 8th inning or later...why in the fuck would you bunt a guy to third with one out when he's already in scoring position anyway?

God no. That is one of the worst decisions possible, and Tribe does it all the time. The only time it’s acceptable is down a run at home/tied home or road m man on 2nd, no outs bunting to third with top or middle of order up. Period.
ABSOLUTELY NOT...the bunt is used to move a runner into scoring position. Period. A runner at second is already in scoring position. Period. If you want to move him to third with nobody out, that's also acceptable, but to say it's the only time is ludicrous--and not very strategic.
