NFL ratings will suffer despite Covid
Tom Brady looks like what Matt Cassel looked like when not playing for NE.

I was shocked how much ratings fell for the opener. Despite waiting anxiously for the season for months, I had 0 interest in the game and thought the bits I watched were boring. Granted, I don't watch many games outside of the Steelers any more.
IMO, they've made it too tough to play defense in the NFL and it's hurting the product.

Agreed about defense there’s nothing more frustrating the seeing a great hit flagged for 15 yards. I understand changes had to be made but it is a little less en

Now that he’s not in NE I don’t care how well he does. He was autodrafted as my QB this year, so I hope he balls.

How much were they down by? I keep seeing more and more “you’ve lost a life long fan!” rants on Twitter and I always chalked them up as tools. But maybe there’s a lot of them and they’re sticking with it?
As for Thursday’s game, I just don’t have any interest in watching beat downs. I’d rather watch a close game between two shitty teams than the Chiefs up 31-7 in the 4th quarter.
posted by friendfromlowry12-13%. To be fair, not sure KC and HOU are the biggest draws. Last year's opener was GB vs. Chicago, so apples to oranges. But I expected a sports-starved country to watch anything. How much were they down by?
It also went up against the NBAs biggest draw in the playoffs and the NHL playoffs. Plus every team in MLB (vs half the league eliminated) and the US Open tennis.
A 20.3 rating vs 22.1 or whatever last year is 12% drop, but it’s also a massive, massive number (and before the OOH viewers factor in). It’s still higher than 1-2 of the openers going back 10 years.
