Utah looks awful.
Utah looks awful.
I knew Utah and Oregon weren’t worthy of their rankings. I feel same about Oklahoma and Baylor.
So this will probably be theoretical by the time anyone reads and responds.
But what if OSU or LSU lose their championship games - do they still belong in the playoff? I know people put weight on conference championships, and losing late hurts more than an early season loss....but these two looked like the best team in the country for the better part of 3 months. They are both in with a loss, IMO. I suppose that should also apply to Clemson.
All the two loss teams should clearly be out, even Alabama (even if they didn't lose Tua). That leaves Oklahoma/Baylor and Utah. No way any of those 3 get in over a 1-loss OSU or LSU.
Georgia with 2 losses... This is where I think not winning the conference championship matters when you lost to another team already in the playoff. And that second loss, even early in the year by 1 point(?), has to be the nail in the coffin. Now if LSU loses, then that's a heck of a debate. Especially if it's a close game. I'm just not a big fan of putting two teams in the playoff when they just met in a conference championship. Wait, did I just argue AGAINST LSU if they lose to Georgia?!?
OK, so let's say we have Clemson and LSU undefeated and in.
OSU stumbles against WISC (yeah, I know, I'm not taking WISC for less than 100/1). Who are the other two teams in the playoffs?
For me, OSU. 1-1 against WISC, sure lost in the championship but blew them out 6 weeks ago and WISC still has that other loss. Then I think I go with the Baylor/Oklahoma winner.
LSU and OSU are in regardless of today. If Clemson loses they’d be out, but they’re not losing. So unless Georgia wins, it’s gonna be the Big 12 champ as #4 (most likely Oklahoma).
Would love to see Clemson lose. Dabo is such a whiner.

That's pretty clear and straightforward.
So maybe it's really just about LSU/Georgia. I agree LSU has looked like #1 or #2 all year, but to me that's a play-in game. How would you really justify LSU over Oklahoma after they just lost to one of the other playoff teams?
To me that's a different argument than if OSU were to stumble against a team that isn't going to the playoff (not to mention one they already beat). And, yes, I realize LSU is still going to go, and there's precedent for it. Everyone would probably rather see LSU, anyway. But I don't really think it's right, unless you lost in a controversial or fluke way.

I think you have to compare complete resumes. Oklahoma 2 wins over Baylor who will be around 10th I’d guess. Oklahoma win over OK St who is about 25th. Lost to KSU who is unranked.
LSU would have wins over Bama and Auburn...both about #10...AND Florida about #8. Loss would be to #3 team
LSU better resume by a little

I guess I used a lot of words to say I don't think two teams from the same conference should get into the playoffs. Especially not when they just decided it on the field.

That’s a fair stance
LSU should be up 28-3 but dropped pass and missed holding
Not a great showing from Georgia.
Joe.
Writing is on the wall...this blowout allows LSU to jump OSU for one seed. LSU then gets home cooking in Peach Bowl against OU. OSU heads to Fiesta Bowl to play Clemson.
UC, down by five, gets a first down with ~45 sec left on the Memphis 20 yd line and the clock is stopped to move the chains. With no timeouts left, they give away 1st down by spiking it instead of gathering themselves and running a meaningful play. Then they get a false start penalty and lose the ball on downs. Need to have more poise under pressure, like Joe Burrow, and make the most of the situation.

Worried about this as well. Need to roll tonight.

Going thru both LSU and Clemson would be no easy task.....that said, I think playing Clemson will better prepare them for LSU's passing game.

Currently OSU’s worst nightmare. What the fuck is the defense doing. Fuck!

Appear to have fixed it at halftime.
They can play like shit for almost an entire half and still win by 20+.
3-4 games this year where they've looked beatable (if they're playing a Clemson/LSU/Bama)....but at their best I don't think anyone can play with them.
wtf dude - was it really necessary to blow the QB up on the last play of the game?!?
So the 1 seed will play Oklahoma in the Peach to ensure no geographical disadvantage in making the 1 seed play out west closer to OU campus. 2 seed will play Clemson in the Peach.

Yes.
Not sure why Georgia is getting so much love from the committee. I don’t think they can beat Wisconsin. Sure LSU looked great, but Georgia lost to SC, one of the worst teams in the SEC.

Talk shit get hit.

Is Illinois much better than SC?
