My point wasn't that Pulp Fiction was necessarily his best. But it was the first time most people were exposed to his style. I also like Inglorious Basterds better. But when that movie came out Tarantino was a well-known director. His unusual style wasn't shocking the way it was when Pulp Fiction first hit theaters.
100%, I think Laley is missing the historical context here. Pulp Fiction CHANGED cinema, what he did hadn't been done before. I love IG too, but it didn't have the same cultural impact that Pulp Fuction had. Hell, just look at the Simpsons, they modeled an entire episode around Pulp Fiction.

Watched Netflix documentary on Steubenville rape case last night called "Roll Red Roll." There was a lot I had forgotten about this but god damn that clip of Michael Nodianos talking about the girl being raped/dead...that's gotta fuck with him the rest of his life. There's no "young, dumb, drunk, silly mistake" defense in what he said.

There's a part of me that feels sorry for that guy. I in no way condone what he did or said on that video. It was sickening beyond repair. But, he struck me as an immature high school jackass. Put an immature jackass in a room with his buddies that he is constantly trying to impress, throw in alcohol and you have a recipe for trouble.
Again, the video was absolutely horrible. There is no excuse for it. But even if this guy takes significant steps to change himself, better himself, get right with life, etc, this thing will always follow him around.

Eh I think that's giving him too much credit. Also, if I just watched the video of him on mute and had no idea who he was or what he was saying, I'd think he had an extremely punchable face. Nevermind he's joking about a "dead" girl getting raped while giggling like a drunk hick.

I love that they made a documentary of it, and they ruined his life for eternity.

The Hangover - 9.5/10
Great movie. The sequels leave a lot to be desired. But that first one was great.

The Mule. Clint Eastwood is always great, but there were a lot of parts of the movie that I thought were not put together well. The immediate interaction between him and the cartel, things like that. The acting was good, but the script writers did a poor job.

screwball - 8/10. the story was like a 6 or 7, but the cinemetography (using the kids to play the athletes and such) was really cool.
