What was the last movie you watched?

Just watched How To Train Your Dragon again with the little one last night.

That's actually a pretty fun movie.  I might watch that without a kid, even.  Plus, Toothless' personality reminds me a lot of one of the dogs we had to have put down this last year, so it got me in the feelz.

8/10

Watched the documentary on John McAfee on netflix the other day. That dude is NUTS.

Watched that one recently too.

Started off thinking he was a badass, crazy rich guy.. then realized he's a giant piece of shit.

Watched Shazam today, really good!  Much better than I anticipated.

Couldn’t choose between Us, Pet Semetary, and Shazam tonight. Ended up going with Us and not sure it was the right call. Gave it a 6/10.

Taking daughter to see Dumbo tomorrow.

Taking daughter to see Dumbo tomorrow.

It was okay. 7/10.

Saw a preview for Toy Story 4 and couldn't be less interested in it. Whoever the main character kid is creates a new "toy" at school (it's a fork with eyes) and the fork runs away and Woody tries to chase it but gets lost or abducted by other toys so Buzz and the rest of the gang have to rescue him. From the looks of the trailer, I saw this movie already. It was called Toy Story 3.

I'm glad there's someone else here who can find a few movies they watch over and over without losing the enjoyment of it.

When I get on a kick, I will sometimes watch the same movie multiple times in a day.

I've watched How To Train Your Dragon 1, 2, and 3 today.

1 is great.  2 is alright.  3 is alright, as well.  I'd give them 8.5, 8, and 7.5 respectively.

Babysitting my two year old niece, but I suspect it would be similar.

Three Billboards Outside --  8.5, until I got to the ending...final rating 7.5 (the casting was excellent, and Sam Rockwell is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors)

A Quiet Place - 7/10

A few things that bugged me. How the hell is their fresh corn growing when you're a year and a half into dealing with whatever those monsters are? Also, the nail in the step. C'mon. Otherwise, it was entertaining enough.

The fact they didn’t just build a house by the waterfall didn’t bug you? The whole movie was ruined when water masked their noise and they were dumb enough to not live near it.

Yeah, I actually did have that thought as well after that scene. But, building a house would be noisy as hell, so the water might not mask that process.

Yeah, so when they get there, just stop. Or jump in a canoe and off you go. Then start again when they are gone. I don’t know, there were clear ways to be able to at least have a semi-normal life by natural occurring noises it appeared.

I liked the movie. It was entertaining and original. I’m not going to criticize it for what you guys are saying. Obviously that type of movie isn’t going to be 100% realistic.

Thats like watching a horror movie and getting upset because the woman didn’t just run away and call the police. If she did that, there wouldn’t be a movie.

Sure, but in this case they made a big deal and an entire scene about the effects of water. Soooo, maybe just don’t even address it? Like, there was zero point for it to even be in the movie.

So, kind of like how in the first Friday the 13th, Jason's backstory had him drowning as a kid AND in Freddy vs. Jason, Freddy uses dream powers to show Jason has a water phobia because of that to nearly incapacitate him...but in many of the movies between those two, Jason shows no reluctance in killing people in or near water. I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!!!!!

Or, uh, since the main characters in that movie are a husband, wife and three...uh, WHOOPSIE!!!!...two children, the act of building a house might not be all that feasible unless you actually have building materials on hand. If noise is taboo, you ain't gonna be driving to town in a big-ass truck to raid Lowe's. And depending on personal do-it-yourself ability, the simple act of building something semi-permanent that will provide shelter and not collapse in a strong wind might not be all that easy (I mean, the dude had shit built up in his house like soundproofing part of it, but starting from scratch while outdoors and completely vulnerable seems to be a different story). And, when you think about it, unless these monsters are going to be cool about shit and broadcast they're coming for you with a lot of noise, I don't know that I'd be all the comfortable with concentrating on building something in the hopes that I'll notice them coming and have time to get to my raft to escape down river before I'm grabbed.

Yeah, this is why the water thing didn't bother me after I gave it a little thought. The corn and nail, though. No excuses.

Kung Fu Panda: 7.5/10

It's Jack Black at his best: voicing things and not in front of the camera.

I was surprised to realize how many big names did voices for that movie, though.

We can get into the semantics of building materials and the noise associated. But bottom line is most of the worlds population of animals and humans has been wiped out. The fact they knew of a way to live a semi normal life in that situation and decided, “nah, I’m good” is dumb. They walked to a giant bridge in the opening scene. Pack up what you want, find a boat, and drift or whatever until you find a vacant house near the water. Hell, take it until you hit the fucking ocean. Anything but staying around in the current house would’ve been a better option. There was a solution, and they ignored it.

Why even give us that plot, is my point? Could easily have a father son moment anywhere else and learn about the daughter needing your love.

Bottom line is, you're thinking too hard about a movie where monsters kill people if you make a noise.

To paraphrase you, isn’t that what we should be doing on a message board?

Anyway, a good number of people thought that while watching the movie. So, why not address it or leave it out? That’s all I’m saying.
