I only dug deep on Rhapsody because it was up for Best Picture. I critiqued it on those merits. When I went for the music and the story, irregardless if facts and anything else, I have it an 8 or 8.5/10 I believe.

There's more than a few reviews out there that agree with me.  I love Queen, and the music carries the film.  And he did a great Freddie Mercury - but the problem is the script/writing is very thin outside of the music.

Ray was incredible.  Walk the Line was very good.  Bohemian Rhapsody is decent, but a very distant third to those two.  It had no business being nominated best picture, and normally a great performance with a weak script doesn't get you a Best Actor nod, either.

To me, a subtle difference between BR and Ray/WtL was the latter weren't just imitations of what's on YouTube.  They gave color and context to the performance.

As for Bohemian Rhapsody...I’m not sure you can somewhat like Queen’s music and not think highly of that movie. I don’t think digging deep was meant for that movie. It was very entertaining and enjoyable.

But that was exactly my point.  The movie provided very little color/context behind the music.  Of course the music is fun an entertaining, but what I posited was should you spend 2+ hours watching the movie, or just watch the actual videos for an hour?

It took like 8 years or whatever to make, and originally cast Sacha Baron Cohen quit.  The entire thing was a mess, and the end result reflects that....it's just the greatness of Queen that masks the many issues.

Not really. He quit because the studio made them take out any controversial stuff about Mercury. Maybe he would’ve sucked in the part, but the viewers definitely lost by not getting a true Freddie story.

I guess it is what you are looking for in the movie.......if you are looking for completely accurate historical information on Queen, then maybe you were disappointed.  I went to listen to the music in a theatre setting and enjoy the movie for what it was.

I have a hard time getting angry or upset about what this movie wasn't.

Saw Captain Marvel.

Not as amazing as it was hyped to be. Decent to good super hero flick. To be honest Brie Larson’s acting is sometimes dry but the story line and action scenes were good. Better than most Marvel stand alone movies, maybe only the first Ironman, Thor:Ragnorok, and Black Panther we’re better from a Marvel stand alone movie.

Not nearly as good as Wonder Woman was (to compare to the only other woman super hero movie) but definitely worth seeing.

6/10

Nothing to do with that movie really, but I find Brie Lawson to be incredibly hot. She’s def in my top 2-3 for hottest actresses.

Captain Marvel, 7/10. I liked it. I agree it was not as good as Wonder Woman, but Marvel knows how to make these movies now. It is pretty much a formula. This hit all the right notes. The 90s references were a bit too much sometimes. But, I laughed hard when they inserted the CD and it took some minutes to load up.

Free Solo: 7/10: Finally caught it this weekend. The last 25 minutes when he climbs is nuts. Even when you know he makes it, it is still hard to watch in spots.

My 2 main jobs in HS and college was Blockbuster and I was a waiter at Chi-Chi’s.

I went and watched the movie with my wife and sister. After she crashed through Blockbuster and went to Radio Shack, I leaned over to my sister and said “if they stop at a Chi-Chi’s and eat a twice grilled bbq burrito and fried ice cream I am leaving”

Captain Marvel: 7/10

Agree with most of the posts so far about it. Bumped half a point because I thought the origin story basically being for all Avengers/Fury on earth was kinda cool.

Brie Larson: 10/10

Triple Frontier, 8/10. A great flick about retired soldiers making one last run. Great freaking cast.

It feels like an old school 80s action movie in spots.

I give a Triple Frontier like a 6.5-7/10. Edge of your seat at times, but the climax was way to early in the film. Where was the bad guy? The conflict? How are they so smart...then become so dumb? But mostly...there was literally no bad guy. It was weird.

Saw Us tonight. It wasn’t bad. Not sure it lived up to its hype. 7/10 I’d say.
