What kind of vacation person are you?

Thought you were getting out of the TV business?

Attempting. Finished up classes in August and have had a few interviews since. Thought I had a job with Amazon but stalled after 2nd interview.

A few things keeping me in the industry at the moment:

  1. No daycare with me home M-T. Wife works from home and can manage Fridays and the occasional odd trip where I’m gone earlier or home later than standard Thursday night flight Sunday am flight.
  2. Not willing to take a significant payout right now. Maybe in future, when being home will matter more to me, but not right this second. And unfortunately while my skills match 99% for these jobs (maybe even overqualified on a lot), employers don’t see the experience they want, and I can’t even get an interview to explain

  1. Things are shifting in my company due to COVID, and I may be in line for a bee position with 10% the travel of now. I’d be the client service rep for NBC Sports or CBS Sports, which would be a lot more work, but a decent pay increase and WFH plus travel only around 10-15x a year.

We try to see new places as much as possible. Spain will probably be our repeat trip every few years, as we have close family friends near Barcelone who also have a shorefront home on the sea. Before COVID, we had a beach trip planned to Barbados and were thinking Japan and the Balkans in the near future. We also try to mix in U.S. travels to visit cities where friends have relocated.

Twenty so years we spent a week on Lake James in NW Indiana so i guess one could say finding a place and sticking to it for myself.

The good is you know the area well, have traditions on what to do and where to go and can picture yourself doing all those things all year long waiting to go back.

New place when you truly know how to get around and what to do you are ready to pack up and go home.

Prefer a place that i KNOW I wil have fun and look forward to each year and it takes away a lot of the questions of what to do, etc.
