What are your plans for 2020?

This could be resolutions, places you plan to travel, projects for your house, or whatever.

My current list:

  1. Move. After downsizing into our current house we've decided it's not quite working out. We'll spend the rest of the winter getting our house ready to sell and get serious about finding a new place in the Spring.
  2. Brew more beer. I added a lot of new brewing equipment over Christmas, and finally have a kegerator (3 taps) setup so I have no excuses.
  3. Do more woodworking projects. My garage isn't the ideal workshop setup, but I can definitely build stuff if I want to. Spent most of the day yesterday working on a floating entertainment stand for our basement television and really enjoyed building it. One of the requirements of the new house is a better spot for a dedicated workshop.
  4. Stop wasting time watching tv. My rule for the year, once I finish my re-watch of Breaking Bad (6 episodes left) is to not rewatch anything I've already seen unless I'm actively doing something else. No mindless binging of Parks and Rec, The Office, Seinfeld, etc.
  5. Clean up my eating. It's been rough for a while and I'm feeling it. I've been fat before, I'm not doing it again.

2) start running again, need to lose 10 poinds

3) really need to drink a little less, also related to the weight loss comment. 
4) now that our daughter is almost 2, start doing more activities outside of the house vs spending all weekend at home.

  2. Get my Blood Pressure down another 15 (top number). It was way high — 154/82 (due to eating like shit when I travel for work, despite eating well at home), and in a year I’ve dropped it to 130/72

Seriously, I’m battling the same thing, having numbers like yours. I’m getting it back down thanks to working out at a Sports and Wellness center that I initially went to for rehab on my new knee.

Get a raise from current employer.

Build the two businesses I started in 2019.

Continue to pay off debt (student loan and now a little on credit card).

Try to do some home renovations, would like to move in the next 1-2 years.

Continue to work on my health -- eat better, exercise more.

Had a job interview today. Would be a major life change if I got it. So I’d spend 2020 doing that.

Move back to the motherland, probably Columbus.

I've been in the DC/ Maryland area now since 2007. But, I've grown tired of the area and desire to be closer to family.

It took me by surprise a few years ago. I’m very laid back and don’t carry much stress at all. I’ve actually helped my wife stop getting so worked up about stuff. I’m 6’1, 205 and workout regularly. Been an athlete my whole life (did get up to around 230 in college and kept it on until about 4 years ago). But never had health issues. Then I took this job in NC and I travelled 48/52 weekends my first year and went for my annual physical and had that number. Didn’t think much of it because I had never had BP issues. Well, 3 checkups later and it actually rose a bit I started to get worried. Dr. said probably diet related, so I looked into the foods to help reduce it and it’s worked. Coupled with ordering healthier items on the menu when I travel (this was the main issue, as we eat pretty healthy at home) and it’s dropped significantly in just over 12 months. Want to get back to what I was accustomed to, but getting older stress may prevent that lol: kid; shit paying job; sports; family...

I should have included this. I'm 28 days into Spanish using Duolingo. It's been a lot of fun. Much better than Spanish class in high school that I had for 4 years.

I used Duolingo for months. Didn't really help. Just frustrated the hell out of me. 

Pimsleur is the only thing that really helped regarding being conversational. 

When I say effort, I mean a book, class, instructor. I just need to know the basics in a classroom environment and then go from there.

Just had a quote for our bathroom, which isn't even a whole bathroom renovation, just a shower installed.

$8,888 after 20% off. Ouch. This one won't be happening anytime soon.

Holy shit what kind of lavish shower costs 8k?

I just helped my dad finish a shower install over the Xmas holiday. If you're even somewhat handy, you could probably handle most if not all yourself....especially if you go with a kit.

Checkmark on the first one. I knew it was a possibility when I added it here. Had to take lateral base salary, with less of a bonus, but the perks are much better, work/life much better, and won't hate my life everyday. The pay in this city is crap compared to if I was in Charlotte, or even Cleveland.

Well, chalk me up to the "new job" category too.

It's no guarantee, but I've applied to my first job this year (and first application in 3+ years). Had a chat with a boss yesterday that just made it clear that we will never be on the same page. Sucks, as I really enjoy what I'm doing, but they clearly have no idea or strategic plans in mind.

So, it may be back to college coaching for me. Not exactly what I want, but at least I can sorta be my own boss. Like the Cincinnati-area and don't really want to leave. No real rush as I'm still employed too.

I always thought that an hour at the park/playground would solve all three of these, bonus is you get home and both get a nap
