I enjoyed the book. It obviously suffered since she passed away before finishing it, but I like her writing.

If you haven't watched it yet, check out the documentary.  It was outstanding.  If gave me a lot of respect for her, beyond what I read in the book.  It was excellent.

Very slowly making my way through the Terror by Dan Simmons. I enjoyed the AMC miniseries a few years ago.

Semi true story of the artic exhibition of the British HMS Terror and its crew.

Just finished The Shining recently. The book was way better than the movie.

Finished all three books in the "Wayward Pines" trilogy by Blake Crouch over the weekend.  Very, very well done.  My only complaint was that last postscript "chapter" at the end of "The Last Town", just leaves you begging for a fourth book to follow.

Excellent book. Really scary. I loved the Stanley Kubrick movie as well. It was really a completely different story, so I've always separated the two. They tried a miniseries that followed the book's plot, but it was terrible.

I agree the movie was good, but it's been a few years and I've only seen it once. I don't remember the son being of any real consequence in the movie.

I read 52 books in 2020. I finished up with A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara on NYE. It took me 7 months total and I cried a lot.

Currently reading The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson.

He wasn't very relevant.  He was a little creepy.

About 50% done with The Sovereign Individual. It's good, but it's dense. Finished Mastering Bitcoin, and also finished Hard Money You Can't F*ck With by Jason Williams. Yes, it's about bitcoin. Also re-read Anatomy of the State by Murray Rothbard last night.

I think I might re-read the Bobiverse series by Dennis Taylor next. The 4th book was released a while ago and I haven't read it yet, and the series is definitely worth re-reading at least once. If you like sci-fi and haven't read this series I would highly recommend it.

I'm about halfway through the 900+ pages of the Terror. It has been a nice distraction from the move and unpacking boxes. Also, reading it in the winter as it is snowy and cold hits home even more. Pretty good so far.

The Terror is something I'd like to get into, whether it be the book or the TV series. It's by Dan Simmons, right? Had good luck with one of his really long novels (Carrion Comfort, I think), so that and the overall premise of the book do have me intrigued.

About halfway thru "Branch Rickey" (2011)  by Jimmy Breslin.

Interesting tidbit from the prologue - he starts his research by setting up an appointment to with a famous NY sportswriter from Jackie Robinson era; the writer dies just before the visit.  He then calls Brooklyn Dodger GM Buzzy Bavasi, who said "Come out anytime and we'll talk" - and Bavasi dies two days later.  Moral of the story:  interview the sources while you still have time.

Yeah. It is Dan Simmons. I liked the AMC show a lot a few years ago and figured I would dive into the book.

I finished the Terror yesterday, finally. I forgot how it ended, so the last 100 pages threw me off. I enjoyed it though and after it ended I did feel a little cold ha.

Next up is Color of Law, which is a history of housing segregation laws and their impact today.

Rereading The Godfather by Mario Puzo.  I read it about 30 years ago and really liked it.  The reason I'm rereading it is because I'd like to read the entire Godfather book series.  The first two - the Godfather and the Sicilian are by Puzo.  The second and third - The Godfather Returns and The Godfather's Revenge are by Mark Winegardner (a Cleveland guy) and the last if The Family Corleone by Ed Falco.  The last three were written after Puzo's death.  The authors had to basically audition to get the job.  I don't know if any of them are good, but we'll find out.

Started Rum Punch last night from Elmore Leonard. It was the basis for the movie Jackie Brown.

I've made a point to read as many Elmore Leonard and John le Carre novels as possible.

I love John le Carre's books Leonard's are good, but I get tired of them.
