No, it doesn't.

Japan's long tradition of "honorable suicide" is one reason for the high rate.

Japan also has no history of  make-belief religions, like Christianity.  Suicide is not a sin.

And the high murder rate in the US is because of a long tradition of "gang banging".

I'll assume you don't consider the 20k+ suicides by gun per year in the USA when talking about gun deaths like most grabbers do?

I do and what is a grabber?

People have been violent murdering assholes for all of human history. Violence is nothing new. Movies and video games are a non factor.

You do count suicides as part of our gun problem? Your answer wasn't entirely clear. And a grabber is someone that wants to ban any and all guns they possibly can.

Eh, I suppose so.  Part of me believes the ease of obtaining a gun does contribute to the amount of suicides.  Suicide becomes easier.  Guess ya could say, guns contribute to the suicide problem...

As for being a grabber, not at all.  I would like to make it more strict to own certain weapons.  More background checks, maybe longer waiting periods, make sellers at gun and knife shows obtain some sort of federal license.

Are gun suicides any the largest % nationally?

I started this same line of thinking when I watched the series Justified.  In that show there is so much murder, every single episode, and there always seems to be little-to-no consequence.  I think that adds to the desensitization of these kinds of acts.  The list is very long as to why these things happen, but to say the violence that surrounds us is NOT a small part in it, is obtuse.

As much as I'd like to think it would... I honestly don't know how this will help. Most incidents such as mass school shootings don't happen spontaneously. Killers usually take some time to think about and plan what they're going to do it, how to do it, when and where to do it. Once they make up their minds, waiting 3 days or whatever is not going to change their minds. They'd probably still see it as easier and faster than buying the goods to make bombs or some such.

If anyone takes this violence/vidgame shit seriously, then they need to take religion and ban it 1st before worrying about vid games.
