Another covid thread. Good times.

Uh oh.
Crashed & landed UFOs being reverse engineered by stealthy US gov program, alleges high ranking whistle blower. Claims that some of those aircrafts contained dead extraterrestrial pilots. Members of Congress are expected to scrutinize the report. pic.twitter.com/QA8HhVrj7b

I was going to start a new thread...
While I believe there must be other life in the universe, I've always been skeptical that we've been visited. Even more so that these vehicles crash - can travel across the galaxy at FTL, but they just fall out of the sky after entering our atmosphere?
Also skeptical that it would have taken this long for a legit whistleblower. My bet is the guy is either a nutjob or an idiot, possibly both. Or, at least, that's what they'll want us to believe....
And the idea of trying to reverse engineer a warp drive is frightening. That's probably how it all ends.

everytime this comes up, my mind immediately goes to one of three places:
1. our own government testing military stuff and it results in a citizen notices something surreal in the sky. when the government says nothing when questioned, citizen assumes its aliens. in reality, it's just secret military stuff they can't comment on.
2. weather phenomenon
3. some country sends a satellite into space 50 years ago and it comes hurdling back down to earth and lands in a jurisdiction different from where it originated. the recovering body calls it a UFO and everyone freaks out. a UFO is exactly that: an unidentified flying object. if the US government recovered unrecognizable chinese junk, that by definition, is an unidentified flying object.
i suspect this is #3 with a splash of BS.
if there is intelligent life out there, they've probably already deemed earth a lost cause since we're well on our way to destroying our own planet. as such, they have no reason to visit.
posted by MontyBrunswickI disagree. Intelligent life would seek us out because we are the only planet with Matt McLain and Elly De La Cruz.everytime this comes up, my mind immediately goes to one of three places:

They'll likely be able to harvest fuel from our bodies. We're toast.

Maybe they come from places that have no gravity, and they can't handle it and crash. :)
