Headed to my family's for Thanksgiving. My wife and I decided before we married that we would alternate holidays every year with family -- this year it's Thanksgiving with mine and Christmas day with hers.

It's pretty low-key these days. Not the big ones we had when Granddad (died 2006) and Grandma (died in September) were alive. We had all our families together -- they had 6 kids, and there's a whole litter of grandkids.

We've moved to a Saturday party with some of the family that's able to get together. It's sorta been a "wild beast feast" where anyone can bring a dish of whatever game they've cooked. Since we've moved back to the area, this will be our first feast.

We are getting old.  This thread was a lot more fun to read 15 years ago...

It's gone from "Getting drunk AF Wednesday night and going to mom's on Thursday" to "my wife, children and I are travelling to my in-laws for brunch and then we are hosting dinner."

Sure, 15 years ago, it was a definite instead of a possibility...but IT COULD HAPPEN!!!!!

Thanksgiving has calmed down a lot in my hometown. Two of the most popular bars on Thanksgiving Eve have closed their doors in recent years, so options are slim. You have to drive 20-25 min to the nearest hot spot.

Now it's just a lot of drinking in home basement bars. 

We have hosted most years, but Greensboro this year.  Our normal breakfast-bonfire the day after Thanksgiving will have to wait a year.

4. Because we play to 4 lol. Touchdowns only, 4 plays to score, no first downs. It’s about a 50 yard field (25 width)

We played for a set time (45 min). Out of state was victorious on the field and off. 7-2 winners and 4 screwdrivers down.

Yep. My mom and dad are still friends and he comes to a lot of our parties, etc.

My best friend's dad got remarried a few years ago, and her new stepmom's ex-husband was one of the groomsmen lol. Now they spend holidays at said ex-husband/groomsman's house.

I drank 4 beers before our later in the day dinner and could drink no more because I was so full. 

Ran the 5k thanksgiving morning, haven’t run in 6 months, sore as shit today. Broke 30 minutes though (which is still shitty)

I'm lucky in that my big meal comes around 1 p.m., so I had about 5+ hours to digest it before the drinking part of the day commenced.
