Best to you. Not sure if they recommend stool softeners for your type, but I might opt to get some anyway. The idea of having to work to push out a deuce scared me. Sorry about the lack of groin-touching.

I didn’t know what gynecomastia was but good on your dad to take care of it for you.

Bump.

Diagnosed with umbilical hernia yesterday, surgery scheduled for July 27. I didn’t go back and look through everything but anyone went through this? Mine must not be too bad. I was able to push it back several weeks til after our vacation, and surgeon said I should only miss a couple weeks of work.

Edit: I wasn’t completely lazy. I see queencity had one also, although his in a different spot. I didn’t have anyone touching my groin.

My son had that like a week after being born. But at that age, they just grow out of it.

/random thiught that doesn’t apply to your post lol.

Since my last post here, I did have my hip replaced the week before the pandemic caused all elective surgeries to be cancelled at the ortho center.  Went very well, and I rehabbed myself at home.   Nine weeks later they opened back up, and my wife had her knee replaced by the same doc.  Hers went well also, but the rehab was much, much harder.

Appendix removed when I was like 6 or 7.

A couple years ago got a wisdom tooth out and did oral sedation. I took it and about 15 mins later was seeing double. When it was over I grabbed the Gatorade and walked out. Woke up the next day and don’t remember shit and no pain 10/10 or oral sedation dentis

Just had knee surgery yesterday.  Torn meniscus.  Had the other one done for the same thing back in February.

I had an umbilical hernia fixed a few years ago. I put up with it for quite a while, until I could no longer push it back in. Went to the Dr. that day and had surgery that evening. They were afraid the intestines would get pinched.

The first couple of days after surgery were pretty rough. After that it got better. I think I missed 2 weeks work (although I have a desk job for the most part. If it was physical I might have missed more).

I am not sure if this is a standard thing, but my surgeon did not totally close the wound. He left a small area open (for drainage maybe?) and for about a month I had to pack it with wound tape or whatever you call that. I did not enjoy that one bit.

Anyway, good luck and I hope it goes well.

One other side note: I no longer have a belly button because of that.

Had my surgery today instead of the 27th. No packing or missing belly button like Fred.

All in all it wasn’t that terrible (I say that as the worst of the recovery is still ahead though.) I kept calling the post-op nurse Mike even though he repeatedly told me it was Edward, and he wants Milwaukee to win tonight.

I'm glad it went well for you. Hope the recovery goes well also.

Old thread, not a “surgery”, but had a vasectomy today. It was not enjoyable.

i got snipped about a year and a half ago. recovery went way better than expected. i think i took ibuprofen or tylenol for a day and then i was good to go. it varies wildly by person, though.

also since i last posted, i had a screw put in my big toe on my left foot. recovery from that was dreadful.

the break itself happened like 15 years ago. i assumed i had broken it at the time but never got it checked. it obviously never healed, hence the screw.

my previously mentioned arm break looks worse.

Interesting, almost looks like you had a bunion at the first joint.   That screw temporary or permanent?

I had a pin sticking out of my big toe for 8 weeks after bone spur removal, it went thru both joints.   Toe always felt like it wanted to cramp, was relieved when they pulled it out.

There may be a bunion there but it wasn’t my original complaint.

I’d get a monster callus on the side of that problem toe. I’d shave it down and it’d be back days later. I broke down and went to a foot surgeon and he diagnosed the problem fairly quickly.

I had broken the toe some years prior and it never healed. When I walked, the toe would roll inward and the bottom of my toe wouldn’t hit the ground, the side of my toe would. Years of this behavior lead to a bone spur developing on that toe.

The solution was to immobilize the joint with a screw and take bone marrow from my heel and plug the joint with healthy bone to encourage the joint to fuse.

They sent me home with this info and left it up to me if I wanted to do it or not. I opted to go for it.

They succeeded in their hope (the joint is fused) so even if they take the screw out I still won’t be able to bend it.

It feels strange from time to time but i haven’t felt the need to have them take it out.

They left the hardware in my arm too

I’ve had a SLAP labrum tear in my shoulder for a decade. Pretty sure I’m to the point where surgery is needed. Goddammit.
