My prediction for Spectrum/Disney to resolve their issues by this past weekend crashed and burned.

Spectrum is offering this deal as it seems this may go on for a while. Unless I’m missing something, it seems fucking stupid. Pay $70/month to get the sports channels abruptly removed from you? I know you get the whole elite package of channels but what if you already had all that initially. Some people - a lot maybe - would be paying $70/month to essentially get back a half dozen channels, and even some of those you may not care about (myself and National Geographic, for example)

And Spectrum is going to take $15 off your bill if you can withstand their making you hold for 35 minutes snd having 2 passwords and security codes at hand

The Fubo is ok but like you said, most of it is what I already have and it’s fucking bright and my eyes at age 49 are sensitive AF and

I just want my spectrum back…I’ll pay extra.

They gave us a glimpse. They had multi view of only those 4 linked channels. Now they have it across channels and even across sports.

It's still limited I think. I couldn't get multiview with any of the games on Fox

Of the 23 minutes, how much were you actually talking to a person vs being on hold?

I dumped Directv for YoutubeTV a few months back and don't regret it.  I have my YoutubeTV on a FireStick.  If you're a little tech savvy and aren't afraid to pirate, there are hacks out there for the Firestick to get Ballys to watch the Reds.  I do it.

They also dont geolocate, so if you have someone else's login, youre fine. I watch Guards in Chicago, which is normal -- but they don't blackout any Chicago games vs the Sox or Cubs.

Will have to give that some thought.  $130/mo. for Directv, after beating them down from $170 every year, just seems offensive.

Starting to see price increases already from Streaming services.

Just got notified that our Hulu package (Legacy packagae, Live Tv, bundled with Disney+/ESPN+) is rising to $81.99/mo beginning in October. We are currently paying $74.99 and I believe last December it was at $71.99.

So we have seen a $10/mo increase in just 10 months.

I just ran the numbers for switching to YouTube Tv and keeping Disney+ (and ditching ESPN+) and it would be $80.99/mo for that. So I guess it seems on par.

These price increases are just transitory

the benefit of streaming services isn't really the price, it's the flexibility.

if one provider sucks you can easily bounce to someone else. there's no equipment to send back or people to talk to on the phone, you just click cancel on one provider and sign up at the new provider.

i generally sign up for youtube tv (or sling, or whatever is cheapest) during football season and then pause/cancel it during the off-months. that would be a hassle with a cable/satellite provider.

I’ve heard a couple segments on this with the podcasts I listen to each week and people seem to think this may not be resolved very easily or quickly. Spectrum seems tired of being pushed around by ESPN/Disney.

Well then they’ll die off like Dish

spectrum won't die off as they provide internet service. they might give up on TV sooner or later, but even that seems unlikely.

Well Dish is still around too but spectrum will lose huge numbers of cable customers to Fubo and YouTube
