I don't even know what sleep training really is lol. Like I get that it's about sleeping through the night, but I know none of the methods or techniques.

Lots of crying, and little consoling. And very very little sleep on the front end.

I got lucky.  My little girl never had an issue.  From about day 4, she slept at least ten hours a night, only waking up once at most.

Just like O-Trap. Our 3 kids did a pretty good job of just sleeping. Our last, little man, had the roughest time, but that could have just been mom not wanting to part ways with her baby boy.

We started the "training" from Day 1. No bassinet, straight to the crib in their own room. Give them a little time to cry, then go. It worked well.

How old? We are about to have #2 here in less than a month, and not looking forward to the sleep schedules again. Our first wasn't too bad, we even had to wake her up to eat sometimes, but there were still some rough patches.  About 2 weeks ago she went through some 18 month teething and sleep regression and it was a lovely little reminder of what is coming up.

its pointless b/c no 2 kids are the same and what works for one wont work for other. Parenting is 99% trial and error of figuring out what works with what personality. Our son didn't sleep for 4 months more than an hour or 2. It was miserable. Our daughter slept 6 hours from the first night. Now our son is a great sleeper and never gets out of his bed. Our daughter was the great sleeper and now gets out of her bed at night and we have to take her back. It's all about survival and figuring out what will work.

Yep.  I keep getting this reminder from people in the event that we have another.

"Your second is going to make up for how easygoing your first one is."

a) I know that's a possibility.
b) Don't be that friend.

Then if you have two of the same, be prepared for, so you having a 3rd? Umm no, I'm not, and as much as I'd love a boy 1) I don't financially want to have 3 kids and 2) the risk of it being a 3rd girl far outweighs the wanting of a boy.

I'm not even at two yet, but for the most part, I'm just lying if that comes up.  "We're thinking about it.  This time, though, we're going to pursue the human trafficking option."

My wife would keep having the kids if we could. Financially, it's just not sustainable with two of the lowest paying careers we could choose -- we know it, and we both love it, so it's okay.

We still get those questions too. Especially since we had ours pretty close together (5, 4, 1.5 currently). The 2nd and 3rd probably would have happened closer together if we didn't have some slight complications from #2 AND a move across the country in there.

Almost 4 months. 16 weeks to be exact. He has nights where he goes 7-4, then nights where it’s 7-midnight and every hour after. He was colic, so we had to do the feeding to sleep and holding for naps etc just to survive. But now he is past that and needs to learn to sooth himself, because I need some damn sleep lol.

Our son was allergic to my wife’s breastmilk. We had no idea other than he was miserable til he finally got a rash on his belly. And it took awhile for that to happen. We had to put him on a hypoallergenic formula. It broke my wife’s heart but he then finally started getting some sleep so it was a nice tradeoff of not being able to breastfeed.

Our number one son had my wife trained, because she got into the habit of rocking him to sleep each night before carrying him to bed.

We had to bite the bullet when he was 18 months old, and started putting him to bed while he was awake.  We had to listen to a pitiful sobbing voice for a couple of hours ("Mommy...... Dad-deee .....").

We felt horrible, miserable - and very tired.  But it only took 2 or 3 nights, and he was fine after that.

Oh god, I can’t imagine this if he could talk.

We only had this happen a couple times when we first moved her to her crib after spending her first 16 months in a Rock n' Play (I know, we're terrible parents), and it wrecked me.

Whiskey. Either to rub on their gums to get them to sleep or to pound so you can sleep their their whining.

I admire anyone who tries to do it the right way. My wife and I eventually said fuck it, I don't care where they sleep just as long as I/we finally can, too. We both work night shift and often opposite of each other so we couldn't really tag team it. It was usually just one of us there.

My daughter was a breeze actually. My son, who is about to turn 1 seems to be hitting all the phases hard. There was a 10 day phase back around four months old that you couldn't do anything with him. And I swear at night he was up at least every two hours.

A good friend of mine has two kids. The first one didn't sleep through the night until he was over two years old. Even then, it was a fluke. Now her kids are 4 and 18 months, and both of them have only slept through the same night once. Ever.

I don't know if I'd survive.

Didn’t know where to put this, but we just had our 2nd baby girl on Tuesday. Stayed in hospital Tues night but got to come home Wednesday. Holy shit. Maybe I forgot, but the 2nd night with a newborn was miserable. 3rd night was a little better, seems to hate being swaddled already. Somehow she hasn’t woken up the 19 month old yet, even though screaming for an hour each night.
