I work in an industry with a lot of self-important life-coach-style assholes.  Frequently, these guys will share some semi-generic inspirational quote image, and if you look at who it is attributed to, it's them.

I got into a disagreement with someone not in that space for doing the same thing the other day, and I pointed out that, since their name is already on their social media account, there's no need to then attribute the quote to themselves within the image, comparing it to an author of a book adding a "~ John Doe" within the text of the book, even though his name is already on the book itself.

Am I wrong for thinking that's superfluous and silly?  I'm sure part of my distaste for it is the kind of people I usually see doing it, but is there some grounds for it being prudent to do?

It's a bit douchey, but I also see it as trying to brand themselves if they are trying to work a motivational/coaching side hustle.  That's the only positive angle I can think of. 

Edit: If this isn't some side hustle, they can go fuck themselves. 

It's part douche and part cringe.  So doinge or cruche I guess. 

It's dumb, and I hate all of those Gary V types, and the people who read and highlight their books and post it to their social media as well. I'm all for improving yourself as a leader/ person/ whatever, but c'mon.

Chiefy Jones is pretty good at it.
